Robert Doane Obituary

Robert Francis Doane of Pasadena died on July 29, 2025, surrounded by his friends, including his friend since middle school, Kirk Goodfellow, his sister, Colleen Doane Lewis, and his dog, Dude. "Always a ladies' man," best describes Robert, aka Bobby, Red Brother, and Mr. Robert. He was born in San Mateo, California on May 7, 1951 to Robert Roy Doane and Helen Sheehan Doane. He grew up in Glendale, riding a motorcycle through the streets with his big brother, Thomas Doane, and finding trouble with his sister, Patricia Doane Pedersen. With a natural capacity for making friends, Robert worked as a driver to the stars, and in later years he used his understanding of human foibles as a DUI counselor. For the last 8 years, Mr. Robert volunteered with the librarian and his good friend, Ms. Rosa, at the La Pintoresca Library's weekly story time, wearing a tattered crown that a child had made for him, and entertaining the children with his acting chops when he read the books that he would carefully choose based on their silliness factor. His brother, Tommy, and sister, Susan Doane Killian, predeceased him. He was a loving uncle and devoted Godfather to Madison Lewis, a loving and proud uncle to Amy Zukowski and Rob Killian, an appreciative cousin to Mary and Jim Neiger, and leaves behind in loving sadness, his sisters, Colleen and Patty. His family wishes to thank his friends at Pasadena Pet Grooming, as his friends there, Pam and Ruby, have found a good home for Dude. He leaves behind too many friends to list. In lieu of flowers, Robert wished for us to gaze at the moon each evening and consider our blessings.
