Cecil Reiter
May 22, 1956 - July 23, 2025
Cecil Reiter Jr., 69, Town of Seymour, passed away on July 23, 2025, after a brief battle with cancer.
Born May 22, 1956, Cecil was given the namesake of his father, Cecil Reiter Sr., as he was to round out his family of three brothers. Somehow, this didn't stop the addition of his two younger brothers leaving his mother, Audrey, with her hands full given six Reiter boys. His brothers all had special nicknames; Cecil was lovingly named "Scorp".
In 1984, Cecil married Kim Dueholm, and they spent the first several years of their marriage traveling and enjoying spending time with their friends and family. In recent years, they loved traveling to Hayward, Holcombe, and going for countless side-by-side rides. In 1990, their family grew with the addition of their daughter, Samantha. Sammi had Cecil wrapped around her little finger. Much to young Sammi's chagrin, their family grew again with the addition of their son, Cole. Cecil's family has grown to include his son-in-law, Cory Luther. Cecil enjoyed spending time with his three kids and teaching them all types of skills (how to fish, how to make the world's best chili and stovetop popcorn, how to garden, among hundreds of others). Cecil's kids were his pride and joy.
The family moved into their home in Seymour in 1994. Cecil wholeheartedly loved living in Seymour - he loved living in the country, having such an amazing group of friends, spending time throwing horseshoes and side by siding, and tending to his huge garden.
Cecil was an avid Wisconsin sports fan. He understood football calls when others didn't and truly loved the game. He loved attending Packers training camp in August most summers. Cecil started attending training camp back in the 80s when there were only a few people in attendance, due to the Packers poor performance - a true testament to his loyalty!
Cecil followed in his dad's footsteps after working for him at Reiter Electric. Cecil worked for different electrical outfits around Eau Claire before he and Kim opened their own business. In 1987, they opened KC Electric, which they have owned and operated for the past 38 years. Cecil has mentored numerous electricians and helped to establish several other electrical businesses in the Eau Claire area. He truly was not just a boss, but a friend to his employees.
Cecil was the most generous, thoughtful, selfless, genuine, and dorky person we've had the privilege of knowing. He will be missed endlessly. Left to carry on his legacy are his wife of 41 years, Kim; daughter Sammi; son Cole; "favorite child" son-in-law Cory Luther; brothers John (Julie), Jeffery (Mary), and Michael (Sherri); sisters-in-law Kathy Reiter, Cindy Reiter, and Carin Jelleberg; mothers-in-law Bonnie Emberson and Sis Dueholm; as well as a plethora of family members and friends, and last but not least, his kitten, Walter (thanks to Jenni Gibson!).
He is preceded in death by parents, Cecil Sr. and Audrey Reiter; brothers Earl and Thomas Reiter; nieces Amanda and Michelle Reiter; fathers-in-law Will Dueholm and Bruce Emberson; and brother-in-law, Frankie Schlick.
The family would like to thank the Interim Hospice care team and all of the friends and family who have showed up for them.
A visitation will be held Saturday, August 2, 2025, from 2-5pm at the Chippewa Valley Cremation and Celebration of Life Center, 1717 Devney Dr., Altoona, WI 54720.
A "Sunday Funday" Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, August 3, 2025, from 2-5pm at the Fox Run, 1515 N 65th Ave., Eau Claire, WI 54703.
Cecil's least favorite chore on this earth was going to JC Penney the night before a funeral to buy a bigger pair of Dockers and a dress belt. To keep with Cecil's spirit, please come as you are in whatever you're comfortable wearing (unless you're a Viking's fan, then we'll see you in a tuxedo). Cecil would be there in his best t-shirt and baseball hat.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to establish a "Cecil Fund" to pay it forward in Cecil's honor. We plan to use this to support causes Cecil would've supported and to honor his generosity even after he is no longer physically here to do so.
