Adele Westling Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 30, 2025.
Adele Marie Westling (Galassi, Ascencio) - 1955-2025

Adele was one of a kind, she was caring, humble, full of love and loved by many. Her laugh was infectious and her strength was admirable. She left this world way too soon and will be deeply missed by many. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her. Adele Marie Westling, 70, of Guerneville, CA passed away peacefully at her home with her daughters by her side on June 9, 2025.

Adele was born in San Francisco, CA on March 13, 1955 to Ernest and Elizabeth Galassi, who's values were deeply rooted in family. Adele grew up in San Francisco where she made some life long friends. She spent summers on family trips traveling to Wyoming to spend time with aunts, uncles and cousins. She enjoyed swimming, riding horseback and exploring nature. She attended Catholic school in San Francisco and then moved to Guerneville in the early 70s. Adele attended El Molino High School and was the graduating class of 1973. In the early 80s she began working at Hewlett Packard where she had a long career until an early retirement. Adele was a hardworking single mother, built a home for her daughter's to grow up in on beautiful property next to her parents. Throughout Adele's life she raised several horses and was involved in their training. There was never a time she did not have a family dog while her daughters were young; when she no longer had her own dog, she took her adult daughter's dogs in like her own and always showed them so much love. She had 4 grandsons and 3 granddaughters. She was one to be at all their sporting games such as football, soccer, volleyball, basketball and also other activities such as barrel racing and showing livestock at the fair. It brought her so much happiness and pride to watch her grandkids in these activities, some would say she was their biggest fan. Adele had a green thumb and always had a luscious summer garden, where she would share her excess fruits and vegetables with neighbors.

Adele was preceded in death by her father Ernest, her mother Elizabeth, her brother Peter and several aunts and uncles. Adele is survived by her husband Mike Westling; her children Justine Anderson (Daryl) and Jamie Perez (Emanuel); her step-son Brandon Westling (Michelle); her grandchildren Grace, Gage, Curtis, Bradley, Alexis, Quentin and Elizabeth; her siblings Paul Galassi (Sue), Dave Galassi (Carole) and Michael Galassi (Noreen); her sister-in-law Louise Galassi and several nieces and nephews.

Adele's Celebration of Life will be held at her home in Guerneville on Sunday July 20, 2025 at 12pm. All are welcome to come celebrate Adele's life with her family and friends.

Dear Justine and Jamie,
I am so very sorry to hear of your mother´s passing. She was a happy person and was kind to take our mother Nancy to Reno with Mike, which I know made her day. It´s nice that she brought your family up in Guerneville which was where her parents´ had a summer place.
May God be with your mom as she journey with her horse to her new home.

Justine & Jamie - thank you for sharing your amazing Mom with me. I will forever treasure the memories, the welcome I was always given to be in your home and Adele´s amazing, heartfelt and joyous laugh. Many times your home and family were a retreat for me, safe and loving.
Loving all who feel this tremendous loss but also get to cherish the love and joy we felt from Adele.

Girl, you were a blast back in high school days. I lost touch over the years but those days will always be precious and very special. Ride those horses in the sky and be free of pain. Love you

Adele was very special to me and I feel very privileged to have known her. I loved making her laugh and I can hear that laugh of hers anytime I think of her. Adele I will never break my promise to you and I will miss our conversations.

Justine and family, I remember your mother well as you were in the first class I ever taught. She was very supportive of this "new" teacher, and I remember how kind she was. I also had horses growing up and I remember several conversations with her about horses. I´m very sorry for your loss. She was way too young to pass. Love, Suzanne Wehausen
