Barbara McQuage Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 19, 2025.
Barbara Padgett McQuage, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on March 17, 2025, in Covington, Washington, at the age of 82. Born on October 14, 1942, in Walterboro, South Carolina, Barbara was the only child and cherished daughter of C.G. and Donie Padgett.

Barbara's life was a journey of love, resilience, and artistic expression. Raised in Walterboro, South Carolina, she attended Walterboro High School, where she met her high-school sweetheart, Neil McQuage. Their love story blossomed into a marriage that spanned sixty-five years, filled with adventures, laughter, and unwavering dedication.

After their marriage, Neil joined the Air Force, and Barbara embraced the role of a military wife, traveling across the country and managing the challenges of raising five children with grace and strength. She was a devoted mother to their children: twin daughters, Susan and Vivienne, middle daughter, Donie, and twin sons, Scott and Todd.

Barbara was not only a loving wife and mother but also a talented artist. She found joy in painting with oil and watercolor, creating beautiful works of art that now adorn the homes of her children and grandchildren, serving as a testament to her creative spirit and the love she infused into every stroke.

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, C.G. and Donie Padgett, her two sons, Scott and Todd McQuage, and her grandson, Joshua Reardon. Her memory will forever be cherished by her surviving family: her devoted husband, Neil McQuage; her loving daughters, Susan Viseth, Vivienne Kamphaus, and Donie Falzone; her eleven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Barbara's legacy is one of love, strength, and creativity. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. As we remember Barbara, we celebrate a life well-lived and the enduring impact she had on her family and all who knew her.

A private memorial service will be held to honor Barbara's life. May she rest in eternal peace.

I am the caregiver of Brabara. That's the beginning of our friendship. My Barbara is a lovely, beautiful, kind, intelligent, and always positive person. Barbara taught me many things about living here and she wants me to be happy. She cares about me all the time. That's her kindness. Barbara and I like to talk a lot. Sometimes we both don't understand each other because I'm not good at English. She tries to listen to what I want to communicate. And I always joke with her, "Barbara, can you speak English? Speak English to me." And we both laugh out loud together. Every time I think of you, I cannot believe you are no longer with us. I have to believe that God has bigger plans for you. You will always be remembered no matter what. Your presence, love and kindness will forever be with me. Rest for now until we meet again. I love YOU

So many fond memories visiting the McQuage´s house from junior high all the way through high school. Barbara always made me feel welcome and was always there to support us from football to rides home from swim practice. My deepest condolences and prayers are with you all.
