Beverly Jean Mitchell, age 94, of
Fallon, Montana, passed away on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at the Eastern Montana Veteran's Home in
Glendive, Montana.
Beverly was born on January 10th, 1931, in Moorhead, Minnesota. She was the first-born daughter to Lewis and Olga (Sandie) Whiteman. She was then joined by her sister Joyce. Being raised on the family farm north of Richey, MT kept Bev busy in her younger years. There wasn't much she didn't help with on the farm from cooking, planting, taking care of the animals, and helping with the harvest. Beverly attended country school for most of her elementary years. She was also home schooled by her mother Olga who was a teacher but then finished out her schooling in Richey.
Beverly married Marvin Mitchell November 16th, 1950, in Glendive. They lived in Glendive, Fargo, Savage and Richey in their early years of marriage. During this time, they faced many challenges and losses trying to grow their family. Beverly's strength in the face of such profound grief is a testament to her enduring faith. She carried each of those precious children in her heart forever although their time on earth was brief. Beverly finally brought home their first miracle baby Victor in 1961 and later welcomed 3 more blessings to the family Cameron, Anthony, and Lonnie. She raised her boys in Richey, Mt. Many would say she had the patience of a saint raising her 4 rowdy boys. It wasn't long before Beverly upgraded her mom title to Grandma. It was a role she took on happily. She spent many days keeping up with her grandkids. She would share her life stories with them the good and the bad of way back when. If you asked the grandkids they would say, there was never enough time to hear all of her interesting stories. Beverly thought the sun rose and set in her children and grandchildren. You could tell by the way her face would light up when one of them walked into the room.
Beverly wore many hats from running the Parkwood Motel, moving mobile homes for Mitchell's mobile moving and driving trucks over the road for Makeeff trucking.
Marvin and Bev eventually relocated to Fallon in the early 2000s. Bev kept herself busy there too. She was often crocheting, always having several projects going on at once. She would gift her crocheted work to family, knowing it was made with love. Her work was always cherished. Beverly's garden was big and bountiful when she wasn't out tending to it, she was inside canning and preserving it.
Bev's last move was to EMVH in February 2024. She made many friends in her short time there with other residents and staff. She frequently was found in the activity room playing dominos, working on a puzzle, doing crafts or attending Bible study. She made the most out of her time there and truly enjoyed it. Beverly will be dearly missed by all. Her unwavering spirit and dedication to her family left a permanent mark on everyone who knew her, a legacy of love and strength that continues to inspire us all.
She is preceded in death by her parents Lewis and Olga Whiteman, her sister Joyce Petrik, the love of her life Marvin Mitchell, 9 angel babies.
She is survived by her sons Victor (Paulette) Mitchell, Cameron (Dawn) Mitchell, Anthony (Claire) Mitchell, Lonnie (Rene) Mitchell, 9 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild. Numerous other family and friends.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM on Monday, May 19, 2025 with funeral services beginning at 11:00 AM at New Life Church in Glendive with Pastor Kevin Peterson officiating.
