Cecil “Butch” Ulbrich Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 9, 2025.
Weesatche - Cecil "Butch" Wayne Ulbrich, 81, of Weesatche, Texas, passed away peacefully at his home on July 6, 2025, after a brief illness with pancreatic cancer. He was born October 15, 1943, in Columbus, Texas, and later moved to Flour Bluff, where he attended school.

Cecil proudly served in the U.S. Air Force from 1961 to 1965 and later dedicated multiple decades to civil service at the Corpus Christi Army Depot. On June 25, 1971, he married the love of his life, Nancy Jo Duncan. In 1989, they moved to the family farm in Weesatche so their children could experience country life. Cecil commuted 200 miles daily for 7 years-an act of love and devotion to his family.

He was known for his quiet strength, honesty, and unwavering work ethic. He enjoyed working on cars with his sons, playing poker, reading in his recliner, and spending time with his grandchildren, who were lovingly spoiled by both him and Nancy. In his later years, he became a devoted caregiver to Nancy during her long illness.

Cecil was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nancy; his parents, Emil A. Ulbrich and Jessie "Peggy" Butler Ulbrich Sims; and stepfather, Thomas Sims. He is survived by his sons, Barrett (Crystal) Ulbrich and Brandon (Michelle) Ulbrich; step-daughter, Ruthanna (Fox) Cashell; siblings, Emil E. (Antoinette) Ulbrich, Janie "Sue" (Bill) Middleton, James (Sandra) Ulbrich, and Mary Ann Lowthorp; grandchildren: Dylan, Bailey, Carter, Evelyn, Brayden, and Morgan; step-grandchildren: Misty, Jennifer, Joshua, and Jessie.
