Charles Wayne Blankenship, affectionately known as "Wayne" to his family and friends, passed away on July 5, 2024. Born on March 21, 1951, to Clara Jean and Charles Ernest Blankenship. After 73 years of a wonderful life, Wayne went Home to our Lord. He is at peace and no longer in pain. He lived an amazing life and touched so many people in such a positive way. He was intelligent, funny & easy going. His dry sense of humor would throw people for a loop. He knew no stranger. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

Wayne's early years were spent in the company of his siblings, Pam and Sandy, where they forged a bond that would last a lifetime.

In 1998, Wayne married Kimberly Ann Ellickson, and together they lived a wonderful life in Missouri and Texas. Wayne's legacy is carried on through his family, whom he loved with every fiber of his being.

Wayne's hobbies reflected his love for strategy and the simple pleasures of life. His days fishing, golfing, baseball and gardening were not just pastimes while he was physically able, but a means to connect with nature and those he loved.

Wayne's long term career after college was in Financial Planning, Securities & Investments and Insurance. Later in life, he worked for Walmart as an assistant manager, asset protection manager & other positions.

Predeceased by his Mother Jean Blankenship, Brother in law Ben Wolf. Wayne's memory is honored and kept alive by his loving wife, Kim, his children, Kari (Steve) Peterson and Charles "Logan" (Ciara) Blankenship, his grandchildren Chase Peterson and Jericho Blankenship, his father Ernie (Marge) Blankenship, sisters Pam Wolf and Sandy (Chuck) Stones, Mother in law Sandy Showalter, Sister in law Terri Barker and Christine (Dennis) Curtis, Aunt Pat (Russell) Hall, Aunt Linda (Carl) Hamilton, Uncle Johnny Benjamin, Aunt Candice Reif, Nieces & Nephews Tiffany (Scott) Smith, Annie (Jimmie) Green, Jim Wolf, Alicia (Jim) Elliott, Rick (Randi) Stones, Steven (Bridgette) Stones, Michael (Amber) Barker, Skylynn (Matt) Murdoch, Marissa (Liam) Belanger, Andrew Curtis, Christian Curtis, Jared (Katy) Parsley, Misti (Kelly) Ferguson, Stefani (Joshua) Adams and a host of great nieces, great nephews, cousins, friends and colleagues.

A service to celebrate Wayne's life will be held on August 31, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, located at 523 N. Polk St., Jefferson, TX 75657 and on August 10, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Western Hills Church, located at 2900 SW Auburn Rd., Topeka, KS 66614.

Wayne's warmth, wisdom, humor and the joy he brought to life will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His was a life well-lived and a legacy that will continue to inspire.
