Audrey Aster (Hurst) Cooper, 85, of Knoxville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on March 11, 1940, in Knoxville to Theodore and Verlie (Jackson) Hurst, Audrey lived a full and beautiful life dedicated to her family, faith, and many passions. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend.
Audrey had a deep love for sewing, quilting, crafting, traveling, and working in her flower gardens. Her home was always filled with warmth, creativity, and kindness. She was a proud and active member of Waterville Baptist Church, where her faith and service touched many lives.
She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings: James, Lovetta, Mary Sue, Roscoe, Barbara, and George Henry.
Audrey is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Donald Cooper; her children: Teresa Peers (Bill), Gloria Houser, and Donald Cooper Jr. (Penny); and siblings: Pauline, Arlene, Jesse, Bertha, and Johnny.
Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Brandon Warren (Kirsten), Erin Daniels (Shaun), Kristee Atchley (Bobby), Samantha Houser, Jordon Cooper (Julie), Meg’n Dylan, Aster Cooper, and DJ Johnson; and great-grandchildren: Jakob (and his mother Shonna), Cash and Colt Daniels, and Nolan and Emily Atchley.
Audrey’s life was a testament to love, dedication, and quiet strength. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
The family will receive friends at Poole Funeral Home on Friday, August 29, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. A graveside service will be held at Red Hill Cemetery on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Joe Brooks officiating. Red Hill Cemetery is located on Red Hill Valley Rd. SE, Cleveland, TN 37323.
