Dale Rustigan Obituary

Placentia - August 3, 1943 - July 7, 2025

Dale Vaughn Rustigan, 81, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 7, 2025, surrounded by his wife and daughters.

Dale was a devoted husband, loving father, and proud grandfather-lovingly known as "Papa" by his grandchildren-whose strength, unwavering faith, and continuous support defined his relationships.

Dale was born on August 3, 1943, and raised in Fresno, California. Following his proud service in the United States Air Force for four and a half years, he met and married the love of his life, Lynn. In 1973, they moved with their two young daughters to Yorba Linda, California, where they built a loving home and lasting memories.

Dale was known for his strong character, deep determination, and relentless work ethic.

Dale had a long and distinguished career as Corporate Vice President of Sales at Leviton Manufacturing Company, where his leadership and dedication left a lasting impact until his retirement in December 2005.

They spent their retirement years enjoying life in beautiful, sunny La Quinta, California, where Dale finally had time to focus on his golf game, sharpen his skills, and soak up the warm desert sun he loved so much. Their years there were filled with joy and connection, as they met many wonderful and dear friends who became an important part of their lives.

He was a well-read man with a deep love of learning. He was also a talented musician who played both the piano and guitar with ease and joy. He especially loved playing piano for friends and family, sharing music that entertained everyone in the room.

Some of his most treasured moments were sitting beside his grandchildren, teaching them chords on the guitar or helping them learn to play the piano.

Dale also discovered a new creative outlet in painting. What began as a hobby blossomed into a true source of joy, and he found peace and pride in developing his artistic skills-eventually becoming quite the artist. His paintings became another way for him to express his passion and generosity.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Vi and Vaughn Rustigan. He is survived by his devoted wife, Lynn Rustigan; his daughters, Sheri Candler and her husband Jon, and Michele Gedney and her husband Mike; and his four cherished grandchildren-Ellie, Lacy, Sophie, and Bradley. He is also survived by his sister, Janie Holland, and her husband Paul, as well as cousins, nieces, and nephews and their families who loved him dearly.

Dale will be remembered for his strength, faith, and the love and commitment he had for his family.

His legacy will live on through all who had the privilege to know and love him.
