Dr. David Christianson DMD Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 20, 2025.
Dr. David Pierce Christianson, DMD, passed away on June 18, 2025, in Monterey, California, at the age of 72. Born on June 10, 1953, in Elmhurst, Illinois, David was the son of Nedra and Eugene Christianson. He grew up in Villa Park and graduated from Willowbrook High School, where he distinguished himself as a gifted athlete. Excelling in baseball, football, and basketball, his athleticism and determination were evident from an early age. David continued his education at the University of Georgia, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. While there, he played football for the Georgia Bulldogs-a team he remained devoted to throughout his life. His time at Georgia left a lasting impression on him both academically and personally. He later pursued his passion for healthcare by earning a Doctorate Degree in Dentistry from Southern Illinois University. After becoming licensed to practice dentistry in Illinois and later California, David settled into what would become a long and successful career as a general dentist in Hollister, California. For 42 years, he served his community with dedication and care. His patients knew him not only for his professional skill but also for his warm demeanor and unwavering work ethic. Outside of his professional life, David remained deeply committed to physical activity and sports. In his middle and later years, he found joy in cycling, skiing, and running with friends-activities that reflected both his enduring athleticism and love for the outdoors. A devoted father above all else, David cherished time spent with his sons Evan and Tyler Christianson. He took great pride in watching them skateboard and play basketball-moments that brought him immense happiness. David is survived by his two sons, Evan and Tyler Christianson; and by his former wife, Pamela Sanders. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nedra and Eugene Christianson; and by his sister, Anne Christianson. A hardworking and self-made man who placed family above all else, David leaves behind a legacy of perseverance, devotion, and love. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him, especially his close-friends who knew him as "Nish."

Typical 80's and 90's Thanksgiving.

Dave and I had about 20 Thanksgiving feasts together, each one bigger and better than the last.
We did at least a half dozen 50 mile bike rides from Roserito Beach to Encenada over the old mountin road.
The trouble we would always find was epic.
Nonstop Fun!
I will miss the calls with Dave talking about the old Villa Park days.
We would play pool and listen to Led Zeppelin untill 2 am night after night after night.
He was very focused on what he loved doing whether it was his work or doing things with his boys.
There will never be another quite like him..
Onward and Upward.

I am so sorry to hear of Dave´s passing! My thoughts and prayers go out to his boys!
I have known Dave since Kindergarten. Dave gave me a nickname in grade school that stuck though out the years. He called me Sweet Potatoes which he later shortened to Sweets. Everyone that knows Dave can imagine how he said it in a high pitched voice "Sweets, Sweets".
I remember getting into trouble in 3rd grade. We had a magic marker fight on the front of each others shirts! Our mothers were not pleased with us!
One of my other grade school memories was playing Dodgeball in Washington school gym class. Dave was deadly with a Dodgeball (his athletic skills really shined) Damm if he hit you, which he usually did it would hurt like Hell!!!
I am sorry to say we lost touch in later years only seeing each other at High School reunions. When I did see Dave I always enjoyed our conversation and his humor. I know he will be missed!

Dave was a great guy as they say. Great to get in mischief with. Great to have as a friend to talk every level with. A great teammate and competitor. After seeing him very little some things can best be surmised. He was s as Keats talking about Evan and Tyler do he was probably a great dad. His dental staff which held a good business together for long time says he probably was a great dentist and boss.
He loved where was at in California and our loss in the Midwest by not being able to see him much. As I´ve already done the thing where you think of calling him several times in the past week, Dave will be missed!!

I knew Dave since Little League, and it doesn't surprise me that he had such a robust life. What a great guy. He will be sorely missed.

We both met on the first day of dental school. I can safely say that ever since we had been the best of friends for the last 49 years. Dave and I were coconspirators in a lot of hijinks back then. Im going to miss him a lot. There's never going to be another Dave.

Played many nights of men's doubles tennis with David at Spanish Bay (and Bryan and Tony). Really miss those years, such great times, and sad to hear of the passing of my friend.

My father (Steve Davis) and Dave were best friends and teammates at Georgia. I have very fond memories of visiting Monterey + Lake Tahoe with my family and hanging with Dave when I was a kid. Dave would come to Chicago and reunite with dad and I can't ever remember a time seeing my dad having as much fun as he did when Dave was around. Dave had a tremendous infectious positive energy that you don't come across often in life - but when you do, you instantly know you're in the presence of someone truly special. He helped comfort me in the years after my father passed. He was a genuine spirit and I will miss him dearly.

With Love,

Mike Davis

So sad to hear the news about Dave. From grade school dodgeball days to HS basketball he was one heck of a competitor. So glad he made it back to some of our high school reunions. I remember him showing me photos of his two boys at one reunion and how proud he was of them. Dave will truly be missed.

Thankfully, I was able to witness for many years how much he adored his boys when I taught Tyler Tennis. Sending prayers and good thoughts to your family Tyler. I know how proud of his family he was.!
