Duane Russell Whitmyer age 75, a resident of Lillian, AL., was born in Owosso, MI, and lived in the Mid-Michigan area until he retired from General Motors. Duane went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 6, 2025.

Duane was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a U.S. Army Veteran who served in Korea during the Vietnam War. He was a member of LASAR (Lower Alabama Search and Rescue), a member and past president of the Optimist Club of Perdido Bay, American Legion, Spanish Cove Bible Study, and was active in Civic Organizations.

He was a loving husband to his wife Kathryn Whitmyer of 53 years, a devoted father and grandfather. He will be dearly missed by everyone who knew him.

Duane was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Rita Whitmyer: grandson Chase Rinna, sister Joyce Whitmyer, and brother Max Whitmyer.

He is survived by his wife, Kathyrn Whitmyer of Lillian, AL; son, Steve Whitmyer of Mason, MI, daughter Cynthia (Jonathan) Ramos of Elberta, AL, and son Wesley Whitmyer of Elberta AL. 11 grandchildren: Emma Whitmyer, Ashley Whitmyer, Timothy Ramos, Ruth Rinna, Christopher Ramos, Samuel Rinna, Megan Whitmyer, Mary Whitmyer, Joshua Rinna, Richard Whitmyer: two sisters, Marjorie Whitmyer and Phyllis Whitmyer, and many other relatives and friends.

On Monday, January 6, 2005, Jesus welcomed Duane with open arms where he is now abiding in the presence of his Lord and Savior with all who have gone before him. To God be the glory for Duane's Eternal Life.

I remember Duane all thru high school, but actually got to know how kind a person he was later in life, after I had went through a divorce, and he was so concerned and caring towards me. Very Christian in his attitude. I am blessed to have called him my friend.
