Florence Sveinbjornsson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 31, 2025.
It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Florence Sveinbjornsson, age 90, of Medford, NJ who departed this life on 7/19/25.

Born in Philadelphia PA, to the late Frederick Zimmerman(n) and Ruth Rush(Klinger). Florence worked in Philadelphia at Curtis Publishing company where she occasionally shared the elevator with Norman Rockwell. Flo married Sveinbjorn C. (Whitey) Sveinbjornsson in 1961. They raised a family while traveling the world in the Airforce. They eventually moved to Medford, NJ where she lived for 40 years.

Florence carried with her a legacy of strength, compassion, and quiet wisdom. Her life was marked by a fierce devotion to her family, an unshakable sense of integrity, and a spirit that lifted those around her. Whether crafting, sewing, or baking for friends, family and acquaintances, Florence's presence was a source of warmth and steadiness. "Flo on the go" was always up for a day out with friends whether it was for lunch, sweeps or a trip to the casino. Occasionally all three in one day.

Florence is predeceased by her beloved husband Whitey Sveinbjornsson, Siblings, Ruth Zimmerman, Mildred Kite, Dorothy Kovach, June Kelly, Ann Marie Zimmerman, and Frederick Zimmerman. She is survived by her children, Svein Chris Sveinbjornsson, Eric Sveinbjornsson (Grace), Disa Gander (Tom), Grandchildren, Brynn D'Antonio (Vincent), Erin Sveinbjornsson, Gunnar Sveinbjornsson, Kyle Gander and Jared Gander and her sister Darlene Burstler (Thomas Woltanski), each of whom carries forward her love, lessons, and laughter. Florence's memory will also be cherished by a wide circle of extended family and dear friends who were fortunate to share in her generous heart and vibrant spirit. She will be missed deeply and remembered always.

Burial will be private. A celebration of Florence's life will be held on August 17th at 1pm at the Medford Memorial Community Center, 21 South Main Street, Medford, NJ 08055. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to, Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer .
