In Memory of Frances Patricia "Patsy" O'Connor

Frances Patricia "Patsy" O'Connor, a Larchmont resident for 50 years, died April 21 at her home. She was 77 years old.

Patsy was born and raised in Custume Barracks in Athlone, County Westmeath, Ireland, the youngest of Augustine and Catherine O'Connor's 13 children. While growing up in Athlone, Patsy developed her math skills and lifelong love and skill playing cards and the horses from her eight brothers. Whenever possible, Patsy would sneak off on the bus to her mother's hometown of Derry, to visit Carole and her other cousins.

At age 16, Patsy made her big move to New York, following in the footsteps of most of her siblings. She first lived with her sister Mary and her family in Lindenhurst, making a name for herself as the cool aunt to her nieces and nephews with a suitcase full of the latest rock and roll music, including the Beatles and the Rolling Stones. Patsy graduated from Lindenhurst High School in 1966, with her nephew Kevin Vogel helping her with American history, a class she needed to pass to earn her diploma.

Patsy went on to a career in finance while living in Manhattan and the Bronx. She moved to Larchmont in 1975 after meeting the love of her life, Janice (Jan) Ring, when they were both working at Smith Barney. They were married in 2013.

Most recently, Patsy enjoyed working for 20 years as the assistant controller in the accounting department of the New York District Council of Carpenters. Patsy and Jan made a wonderful life in Larchmont for themselves and many cats, dining out most nights with their wide circle of friends and family at La Riserva, Chat 19 and Carlyn's Cove. Their door was always open and welcoming to friends and family. They hosted many great holiday and Super Bowl parties, as well as their annual summer events known as "Hoots." Patsy also enjoyed traveling back to Ireland often, visiting family in Chicago and Florida, and vacationing in Las Vegas and Puerto Rico.

Survivors include her loving sister, Kathleen Connor Larkin, brothers, Tommie, John and Alfie; daughter, Barbara Lindvall; grandchildren, Lindsey, Tanner and Gavin, and dozens of cherished nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, including her devoted friend and caregiver Ida Velasquez Patsy was preceded in death by her beloved wife, Jan Ring, and her siblings, Charlie, Mary Vogel, Leo, Jimmy, Michael, Colm, Maeve Cunningham and Liam.

A memorial Mass for Patsy will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 26, at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 18 Cherry Lane, Larchmont, NY.
