Gwendolyn Landers Obituary

Gwendolyn June Landers, 80, passed away on February 21, 2025, in Kankakee, Illinois. Born on August 31, 1944, in Gravel Hill, Missouri, Gwendolyn lived a life rooted in faith, love, and devotion to her family.

A lifelong Christian, Gwendolyn embodied kindness and compassion in all she did. She was a devoted wife to Larry Eugene Landers and a loving mother to Kimberly Collette Quinn and her significant other Jay Kravat, as well as Cynthia Renee Koehn and her husband Gary Koehn. Her family was the center of her world, and she created a home filled with warmth and love.

She was a proud grandmother to Cameron James (CJ) Caldwell and his wife Casey Caldwell, as well as Kurstin June Oelschlager. She found immense joy in being "GiGi" to her great-grandson Cooper James Caldwell, who adored spending time with her. Her love extended beyond her immediate family to her beloved siblings-Joyce Jean Myers, Thomas Eugene Slinkard, and Lawanda Bernice Crook-whom she held dear throughout her life. She also cherished the companionship of her beloved dogs Mickey and Minnie.

Gwendolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene "Jessie" Slinkard and Christine Slinkard; her sister Mary Elizabeth Slinkard; and her brothers Jessie Eugene Slinkard and Jerry Lee "Bud" Slinkard. She often remembered with fondness her sweet puppies Mitzy and Korky.

She had a passion for sewing and floral arrangement, creating beautiful pieces that reflected her creativity and care. Gardening brought her peace as she nurtured flowers that brightened her home. In the kitchen, she expressed love through cooking, preparing meals that brought family together in laughter and fellowship.

Gwendolyn's memory will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved her. May the legacy of her love continue to bring comfort to all who were blessed to have known her.
