Helen Anderson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 3, 2025.
Helen Louise (Louie) Anderson passed peacefully after a long, painful illness on June 9, 2025.

She was born on June 7, 1956 and we celebrated her 69th birthday! She spent her childhood in Grygla, MN and had so much fun with her siblings, Liz, Linda and Richard. She spent her teenage years in Spokane, WA attending Greenacres Junior High and Central Valley High School.

She left Spokane at the age of 18 with her boyfriend and traveled the country by foot and thumb. What an experience! She saw 42 states and Canada. She settled in Southern California in 1979 and met Lanny Ross, her soulmate and life partner. They worked together in his constructional concrete business and bought a great place on 10-acres in the canyon of Thousand Oaks, CA. They enjoyed this until Lanny passed in 2010. She spent her last years in Santa Paula, CA with her sister, Nancy.

She was a gentle, loving, caring woman and always tried to see the best in everyone and everything. A positive soul! She loved nature, animals, insects, snakes, reptiles - all creatures. And would do anything to help everyone and everything.

She is survived by her sisters Linda (Ron) Schultz, Spokane, WA and Nancy Seifert, Santa Paula, CA, her brothers in law Marvin Ross and John (Nadine) Ross, several nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Also, many good friends.

She will be missed by all that knew her

I have many wonderful memories spending time at the "Wildflower Ranch" with Uncle Lanny and Aunt Helen. They were special people! This picture is of her and her great great niece and nephew. She loved the babies! I will miss her

Helen was my Sister-in-law, married to my dearly departed brother. She was more like an actual sister to me & I deeply mourn the loss of a true friend & a beautiful soul. More than anyone I have ever known, she possessed an affinity with wildlife that could only be compared to Snow White herself. Living in Carlisle Canyon for decades, she amazingly developed relationships & was on a first name basis with generations of birds, foxes, mountain lions, raccoons & other wildlife that frequented Lanny & Helen's beloved rural property. One of my favorite memories was a camping trip I did with them where Helen (barefoot!!??!!) & I climbed to the top of Half Dome in Yosemite. We then visited the legendary ghost town of Bodie, where she had been involved when she was younger, in the restoration of that fascinating remnant of a bygone era. I will treasure our times together for the remainder of my time on this earthly realm.

...Helen could not have had a more loving, dedicated, and supportive caregiver in the toughest times, than her little sister, Nancy, who did everything in her power to protect, comfort and companion her. It is an honor to have known and loved both of these strong independent Norwegian women over the many years of our friendship. And now, my wonderful memories of Helen will have to take the place of her presence. `Thinking of her every single day.

I´m so sorry for your loss, Nancy. Helen was a rare and kind soul who showered love and kindness on all the living beings she crossed paths with along her journey through this life. She befriended the beauty of nature, created beauty in her many artistic projects, and was beautiful in the loving kindness she gave to her family, Lannys family, her friends, and her neighbors. She will always hold a beautiful and precious place in my heart
