Karen Anneberg, age 66, of Brandon Twp. passed away on May 12.

Naturalist and long-time area resident Karen Anneberg was born in Pontiac, Michigan to Joan Aschenbrenner Anneberg and Allen Anneberg, Prior to graduation from Andover High School, Karen had already developed a lifelong love of horses and nature. She received dual Batchelor of Arts degrees from Arizonia State University in Marketing and Information Technology and was a member of Delta Sigma Pi.

After college, Karen worked in the tech industry in California and Oregon. Returning to Michigan, Karen became marketing manager for several regional civil engineering firms and was active in the Society for Marketing Professional Services.

She was also involved as a volunteer with area therapeutic horse-riding groups, riding on a group drill team and founding a program of her own in conjunction with Bloomfield Hills Schools.

It was through her long-time association with Oakland County Parks and Tamarack Camps that Karen experienced her greatest professional joy, sharing the wonders of nature with people of all ages.

She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband, John Emerson, sister Lisa Anneberg, niece Evelyn Aschenbrenner, nephew Kenneth Erwood and many loving cousins.

In lieu of flowers, we suggest a donation to the charity of your choice.

A remembrance for Karen will be held Tuesday, June 10th, 4 - 7 PM at Independence Oaks County Park.
