Lida Matteoli Obituary

Lida Matteoli, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away peacefully on June 12, at the remarkable age of 98.

Born in Lucca, Italy, Lida brought warmth and flavor to family gatherings with her mouthwatering cooking and baking. While she was best known for her delicious Italian specialties, she also enjoyed preparing dishes from many different cuisines. She had a cookbook collection that could rival that of a bookstore. "Are you hungry?" was a regular question she would ask when visitors would stop by the house. Feeding her family and friends brought her great joy.

Even in her later years, Lida remained sharp and engaged. She had a great memory. She never forgot a birthday or missed an appointment. Lida spent time daily on the computer - shopping, playing solitaire, managing her finances, and always hunting down the next great recipe.

Lida shared a loving marriage of 73 years with her late husband, Italo. She is survived by her devoted daughter Lisa (Steve) and son Dan (Resa); cherished grandchildren Joe (Amanda), Nick, Jessica (Matt), and Annie (Jeff); and adored great-grandchildren Mia, Nicolas, Joaquin, Julian, Silas, and Elliot.

Professionally, Lida served as a principal's secretary with Stockton Unified School District for two decades, where she was known and loved by students, staff, and families alike.

The family is grateful to her kind caregivers Elaine, Maru, Tomasa, and Julie.

Lida's family will hold a private remembrance in her honor. She will be missed and forever remembered.
