Mary Grodsky Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 14, 2025.
Mary Grodsky, of Collierville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on July 12th, leaving behind a trail of kindness, laughter, and love in every home she helped create, whether through her work as a trusted realtor or her roles as a wife, mother, friend, and neighbor.

Mary graced us with her presence on November 30, 1980. She grew up in Iuka, MS, and graduated from the University of Mississippi. She lived in New York, NY, after college before relocating to Collierville, TN, with her husband, Randy.

If you lived in Collierville, chances are you knew Mary. She had a way of turning houses into homes, clients into lifelong friends, and every conversation into something that felt like a warm hug. With her signature southern charm, sharp eye for real estate, and even sharper wit, Mary made people feel seen, heard, and cared for, whether she was handing over a set of keys or showing up with a pie when someone needed it most.

Mary believed in hard work, honest talk, and her commitment to going above and beyond in everything she did. Her favorite times were spent on her weekends on her boat at Pickwick, either watching her kids tube, lounging on a float in the water, or just cruising around to look at the lakeside houses. Her faith and her fierce love for her family anchored her, and she carried both with quiet strength and power.

She is survived by her husband of 17 years, Randy, her sons Colin and Carter, brother Paul Beard, sister Sally Nicholson (Kevin), brother David Beard, sister Ruth Smith (Steve) nieces and nephews, Samantha (Beard) Chafin, Matt Beard, Ashley (Gardner) Ellison, Sarah (Gardner) Spivey, Jackson Smith, Joseph Smith, Sienna Baker, Dylan Baker and numerous great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Nancy Beard and P. O. Beard.

She is survived by those who were lucky enough to call her family, clients who became like family, and a community that's just a little better because Mary was in it.

Visitation will be held at Saint Patrick's Presbyterian Church, 710 West White Road, Collierville, TN, 38017, on July 18th from 5:00 - 8:00 PM, and a celebration of her life will be held on Saturday at 2:00 PM.

Instead of flowers, please consider donating to Camp Lake Stephens, Oxford, MS, where she served on the board, previously worked as a summer camp counselor, and passed on her love for the camp to her sons Colin and Carter. https://www.camplakestephens.com/support

I knew Mary from elementary school all the way through high school. I´ll always remember her kindness and her smile. She and her mom used to shop at my father´s grocery store, and I often carried their groceries to the car. I just remember her always asking how I was doing-she genuinely cared. We shared many classes over the years, and she always kept that kind, steady presence when I saw her. My prayers are with her family.

We met Mary through a mutual friend when we were looking to relocate out of Shelby County a few years ago. I will never forget the first time meeting her in person. She had such a wonderful presence about her. Adorable personality, honest, just had the whole package and she hustled. She became our trusted partner IMMEDIATELY. She will always be the standard for any partners we work with moving forward. We shared a love for Oxford MS and Ole Miss. We ended up relocating to Oxford.

We never had the pleasure of meeting Mary´s husband or sons but she sure did love them. They were her world.

Mary´s departure is a loss for all of us still here on Earth. This is not our home.

Praying for you and your boys, Randy. I feel blessed to have met her even if I only knew her for a short tome. I could tell how amazing and strong she was. She has left quite a legacy for her boys. She will not be forgotten. Praying the Lord gives you strength in the coming days and weeks.

Although our paths only crossed for a couple years of our lives, Mary was one of the first friends I met in NYC. She led a small group weekly at our church. This picture may have been around the time that she and Randy first started dating She was an amazing woman, beyond kind, and a character. She will be missed dearly.

Mary and our daughter were close friends in high school. Emily Johnson our daughter was hilled in a car accident while in their junior year of high school. Mary always had a special place in our heart. The summer before Emily´s accident they enjoyed going to Tishomingo state park. Emily had a straight stick vehicle and tried to teach Mary how to drive it scaring our son terribly. Mary was always a kind soul. Prayers for the family.

Mary and I met several years back when she called about one of my listings at Pickwick. We continued through the years working together on other properties either the showing or selling side. I considered her a friend and her smiling face at Pickwick Lake will be missed by many.

Along with so many others, my heart is breaking. I know here greatest regret is not watching her boys grow up. She had a warrior spirit . She made the most of the time she had with her loved ones.

Thank you for being a great friend to me during my college years. You were a shining light in this world. I have never seen a picture of you when you were not smiling. I hope that you and Emily had a reunion in Heaven. The world is dimmer because you're not here anymore.
