Patricia Guy Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 19, 2024.
Patricia Lucille Lidgard Guy, born on December 7, 1935, in Northville, Michigan, was the cherished daughter of Robert and Lucille Lidgard. She spent her formative years in Plymouth, Michigan, alongside her sisters, Roberta Lidgard Wright and Ruthann Lidgard Helmer.

A 1954 graduate of Plymouth High School, Patricia was a clarinetist in the marching band. She pursued a teaching degree at Eastern Michigan University and was a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma. In January 1957, she met Paul Guy, and their marriage led to the birth of their first daughter a year later.

For 30 years, Pat dedicated herself to being a devoted homemaker, raising six children. Following her divorce from Paul, she returned to college, launched a design business, and eventually owned an antique store, Cabbage Rose. Her entrepreneurial spirit was evident through her active involvement in the South Lyon Chamber of Commerce and the South Lyon Business District. Pat was an avid reader, crossword enthusiast, and lifelong sports fan.

Her love for travel took her to four continents, including memorable trips to London with her sister Ruthann, and Eastern Europe with her ex-husband, witnessing Germany before the fall of the Berlin Wall. She enjoyed cruises with her partner Don to destinations like Hawaii, Alaska, and the Panama Canal. A significant journey with her daughter Jennifer to Israel saw her re-baptized in the Jordan River, took a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee and went to the Wailing Wall.

Pat's deep Christian faith was a cornerstone of her life, reflected in her regular church attendance and Scripture study. Known for her humor, quick wit, and remarkable memory, she touched many lives.

She is survived by her devoted partner of 35 years, Don Hebert and her six children and their spouses: Julie Menard (Curt Harrington), John Guy (Kathy Guy), Jane McFadden (Steve Damiani), Jim Guy (Christine Guy) Joanna Mueller (David Mueller), Jennifer Hartwig (Chris Hartwig).

She also leaves behind 13 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren including 3 step great grands.

A memorial service will be held on January 18, 2025, at Christ Presbyterian Church in Goodyear, Arizona.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice in her name.

I met Pat at Christ Presbyterian Church. I remember sometimes we were the only two who would laugh at something the minister would say, Even though we didn't sit near each other, we always knew!!!!
At least I did get to say goodbye before I moved.
Miss you Pat

Here are a few photos I have. Two from her home in AZ when I visited 11/25/2012, and one when she visited me 8/24/2013. She sits with her friend at the Poulsbo. WA waterfront.

My first memory of Pat was at the Wedding of her grandson, Paul Menard, to our daughter, Andriana. She had an infectious smile, kind heart and looked radiant in her pink dress. I knew immediately that she was a sweet woman and enjoyed talking with her.
Until we meet again, Pat, rest in peace.
