Robert Gieson, age 83, passed away on June 24, 2025, at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center, Livingston NJ.

A longtime resident of Livingston and Cape May, Robert was born in Orange, NJ on August 3, 1941, to parents, John and Margaret (Lynn) Gieson.

Robert lived in West Orange before moving to Livingston in 1979. He was employed by The City of East Orange as a Police Officer for 35 years, from 1966 to 2001. He also became a partner of PJ's Convenience Store, in East Orange for 27 years, from 1979 to 2005.

He was a member of the American Legion, Elks, Essex County Emerald Society, Fraternal Order of Police, Irish American Society of the Oranges, Loyal Order of the Moose, and the NJ State Policemen's Benevolent Association. He was voted East Orange Irishmen of the Year in 1992. Mr. Gieson proudly served in the US Army from July 24, 1961, to September 17, 1964. He enjoyed fishing and gardening, but most importantly he loved being with family.

Robert is predeceased by his parents; his four-month-old angel infant daughter, Deborah (1975-1976); and sister, Maureen B. Norton.

He is survived by his devoted wife, best friend and pal of 52 years, Patricia Ann Covello Gieson; his brother, John J. Gieson III, and twin brother, Richard M. Gieson; sister, Catherine M. Castoro; sister-in-law, 4 Goddaughters, and several nephews, nieces, cousins, great nephews and great nieces.

A Visitation for Robert will be held Sunday, June 29, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Quinn Hopping Funeral Home, 145 East Mount Pleasant Ave, Livingston, NJ 07039. A Funeral Mass will occur Monday, June 30, 2025 at 10:30 AM at Holy Name of Jesus Church, 200 Midland Ave, East Orange, NJ 07017, with a Committal Service to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery & Mausoleum, 225 Ridgedale Ave, East Hanover, NJ 07936.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Robert's name, in memory of his daughter Deborah, to Beth Israel Hospital Neo Natal Unit, 201 Lyons Avenue, Newark, New Jersey.
