Steven Shower Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 29, 2025.
Steven Paul Shower, 74, passed away on November 3, 2024, at home on hospice with his wife, Kelli and dog, Copper in Osprey, Florida. He was born on August 27, 1950 in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin to Martha (Liebetrau) Shower and Carl Shower. He graduated from Edgerton Senior High School in 1968 in Edgerton, Wisconsin and went on to earn a Commercial Art Degree from Madison Area Technical College in 1970 in Madison, Wisconsin. He moved to Florida in 1978 to work in the aluminum industry building pool cages with his brother, David, who owned Integrity Aluminum. He also worked for various contractors and retired in 2015. Steve met his wife, Kelli (Cross) Shower in Venice, Florida in 2017 and were married December of 2020.

Steven was the soundtrack to many people's lives singing and playing various instruments, primarily piano/keyboards for almost his entire life. He toured on the road from Wisconsin with his hometown band, Stoned Hinge for a decade. He worked on many different music projects once moving to Florida, as well as, writing and recording a ballad, Sensitive Man. Steve joined a popular Venice based band, Bandana in 1992 performing at a wide variety of venues including the Charlotte County Fairgrounds Toys for Tots Concert, opening for Charlie Daniels. Steve moved on from the band in 2019 and played at home with his wife Kelli who is also a musician and singer.

Steve loved motorcycles, classic cars, cooking, thrifting, and collecting vinyl records. He enjoyed being a "Dog Dad" to their American Miniature Eskimo, Copper. He is preceded in death by his parents Martha (Liebetrau) Shower and Carl Shower; twin sister Mary Shower; sisters Sylvia Winter and Susan Heninger; and his brother David Shower. Steve is survived by his wife of three years, Kelli Shower, of Osprey, FL and his son, Neil Shower, of Englewood, FL; nephews Benjamin Heninger of Shawano, WI and Riley Heninger of Madison, WI; and close relatives on his brother David's side of the family.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating directly to his wife Kelli who has suffered unexpected, accrued expenses and also lost wages taking several months off work to care for Steve. Their house suffered damages from hurricanes Helene and Milton while Steve was in the hospital and is still waiting for repairs. A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00-3:00pm on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at New Hope Christian Church, 2241 Kilpatrick Road, Nokomis, FL 34275.

I already miss seeing Steve and having conversations about music. Seems like it was at least 25 years ago that I met him, and for so many years I had the privilege of seeing him sing and play music with Bandana!
His charm & wit will be missed for sure, and the local music scene will forever have a noticeable void. Heaven is full of a load of talented musicians and now they have another talented keyboard player!! RIP, Steve!!

I didn´t know you in life but have learned much about you through your loving wife´s sharing of stories and memories. You would be someone I´d consider as my "tribe". I´m blessed to bear witness to such an extraordinary love between two people. It´s a rarity indeed. You have left a legacy of love, family and music A legacy that will forever remain. May you soar with the angels sharing your music throughout the heavens for all the universe to hear. RIP.

I´m met Steve it must´ve been 17 to 20 years ago. He took my son for a ride in his convertible, My son was so excited. Steve did not know about my son´s illness. He just saw a little boy who wanted a ride in a convertible and just gave it to him he made my son`s day since then we watched Steve play his music in the local band. My son and I could not have been more grateful to Steve. He always had a big heart. I will miss you Steve RIP.
