Thomas Norton passed away on May 25, 2025, at the age of 73 in Penn Valley, CA. Born on January 25, 1952, Tom led a life marked by adventure, loyalty, and humor, enriching the lives of those around him with his dedication and spirit.

Tom's journey began at Duke University, where he was not only a student but also a member of the modern dance troupe and writer for the university newspaper. His adventurous spirit was evident through his hobbies; he hiked across various mountain ranges including the Sierra Nevada. Atlas Mtns, Swiss Alps, sailed in Tahiti, and gave bicycle art tours at Burning Man.

Professionally, Tom managed the Reed Gold Mine in North Carolina before moving to California to pursue a law degree. He practiced law in Santa Cruz and Nevada counties until 2011, after which he transitioned to real estate management. His commitment to his clients reflected his responsible and dependable nature.

Tom's personal life was filled with deep connections and cherished relationships. He is survived by his wife, Charma Pipersky; children Maritsa (Dave Oleson) and Andy (Morgan Mitchell); grandchildren, Alek, Asher, and Callum; sister Sara (Craig Wall) and brother, Kenneth (Nancy); cousin, Dennis Nodine (Marie); and close friends, Michael Quinn and Paul Vogel, and many Piperskys. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde M. Norton and Mary Janet Nodine Norton.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 14, 2025. For directions, please contact [email protected]. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Bear Yuba Land Trust or the Center for the Arts, honoring Tom's love for nature and the arts.

Tom was a very special, kind, intelligent, humorous friend. We are sorry to miss remembering and celebrating his life but we are out of the country. Please know that we remember him fondly.
