t is with profound sadness, we announce the passing of Zachary Adam Johnson, a beloved friend, family member, and quiet champion for social justice. Born on November 21, 1975, Zach's journey began in Fairbanks, Alaska, a place he later returned to in 1999 after spending his childhood in Humboldt County, California.

Zach's life was a testament to the power of everyday advocacy, lived through his unwavering kindness and steadfast support for those around him. Zach possessed a rare and genuine spirit, consistently acting on his deep-seated belief in fairness and equality. He didn't need grand gestures to make a difference, instead he wove his commitment to social justice into the fabric of his daily interactions, always treating others with respect and empathy.

Beyond his advocacy, Zach was the epitome of a reliable friend. His phone was always on, and his willingness to lend a hand was boundless. Whether it was a crisis or a simple need, Zach was there without hesitation. He celebrated your joys as if they were his own and offered unwavering comfort during times of sorrow. His presence was a constant source of strength and reassurance for all who knew him. This was reflected even in Zach's great pride he brought to tending his flower gardens. Zach had a deep appreciation for the outdoors; enjoyed music; firearms; and the company of his many friends and his beloved Siamese, Heidi.

Zach passed away at his home peacefully in Anchorage, Alaska, at the age of 49. He is deeply mourned by his parents, Sarah Gilbert and Sonya Miller; his sisters, Mariah Vondra (Charlie Dawson), Erin Egland (Jason Goettig), Rose Miller, Morgan Crumley, Laura Johnson, Jennifer Johnson, and Melany Barnett; his niece, Mars Renner (Greg Burt- Chico); his nephew Tegun Dawson; very dear friends, Dave and Dawn Ell Fitzpatrick, Andrew Freeman, Elizabeth Sharrock, and Shawn DaMota and a wide circle of other cherished friends. He was preceded in death by his fiancé, April Conant; his father and stepmother, Donald and Kathy Johnson; his Godmother, Norma Pageau; his cousin, Julian DiMarco and niece, Arianna Di Marco; and his grandparents, Rev. Dr. Phillip and Elaine Gilbert.
