Audra Anderson Obituary

Audra Anderson

August 11, 1948 - July 8, 2025

Audra Jean Anderson, 74, of Doniphan, formerly of Lexington, passed away on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at the Grand Island Regional Medical Center.

She was born on August 11, 1948, in Cozad, Neb., to Paul and Audrey (Wilcox) Bodfield. She attended school in Cozad and graduated from Cozad High School. Audra went on to attend Kearney State College where she graduated with her bachelor's degree in criminal justice in May of 1991. On January 20, 1978, Audra married the love of her life, Bruce Anderson in Sioux City, Iowa. The couple moved to Grand Island where Audra joined the Police Academy and later began working for the Grand Island Police Department. They then made their home in Johnson Lake, Neb., where she started working for the Gosper County sheriff's department in Elwood. Once Audra retired, the couple moved to Lexington, where she began working for sixth street grocery store before transitioning to Wal-Mart. While working at Walmart she was very involved in fundraising for the Children's Miracle Network and received many awards of recognition for her fundraising events.

Audra had unconditional love for her family. She loved spending her days with her daughter and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was also known for her kind and gentle heart when it came to animals. She adored all of her pets and made sure they had a great quality of life. She was especially proud of Bucky, her latest addition to the family. Audra had a green thumb and was able to grow any kinds of flowers or plants. She enjoyed going out for coffee with her close friends and browsing the local garage sales. You could always find Audra working on her word finds and watching Fox News.

Survivors include her daughter, Laurie (John) Richardson of Doniphan; grandchildren, Nathan Bush of Doniphan, and Tyler (Shayla) Bush of Grand Island; great-grandchildren, Bradley, Brayden and Baylee, all of Grand Island, and Taylor of Doniphan; sister, Deannie Hudson of Holdrege; nieces and nephews, Cheyenne (Jordan) Wiedel of Holdrege, Savannah (Ryan) Beck of Axtell, Stormie Hudson of Holdrege, Jaxon Hudson of Holdrege, Jamie (Amy) Bodfield of Colorado, and Brandi Coufal of Grand Island; great-nieces and nephews, Quade, Dylynn, Kelsey, Tenleigh, Dawsyn, Raelynn, Ethan, and Evan; as well extended family and friends.

Besides her parents, Audra was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bruce Anderson; brothers, Paul "Buster" Bodfield, Robbie Bodfield, and Mike Bodfield; and nephews, Robbie "Bub" Bodfield and Blue Bodfield.

A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, July 14, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Greenwood Cemetery in Lexington with Father Jose Chavez officiating.

Memorials are kindly suggested to the family for later designation.

I worked with Audra at WalMart for many years. She was a hard working lady, very nice. She loved her garage sales, and many times I saw her out at the sales.
