Charlene Wiley Obituary

Charlene Wiley

September 2, 1937 - July 3, 2025

Charlene Lorraine Wiley, 87, formerly of Lexington, peacefully passed away on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at The Grace Space in Lincoln, Neb.

She was born on September 2, 1937, in Los Angeles, Calif., to Myron and Althea (Brown) Hosick. The family moved to Scottsbluff, Neb., when Charlene was 12. By the time she turned 15, her family had made their home in Lexington. She attended public school in Lexington and graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 1956. On June 2, 1957, Charlene was united in marriage to Charles A. Wiley at the Methodist Church in Lexington. The couple was blessed with three sons, Scott, Jeffrey, and Todd.

Charlene was the proud owner of Lee's Flowers in Lexington, where she spent her days making beautiful floral arrangements for weddings, birthdays, and anniversaries. In her spare time, she enjoyed volunteering whenever she could. She volunteered for the Red Cross, meals on wheels, and with hospice facilities. Charlene was also a member of several organizations including the Hospital Auxillary, the Lex Investor Group, Bunko Club, and was a past president of the Lexington Women's Council. At a very young age, Charlene accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized by immersion in Vallejo, Calif. She was a devout member of the Lex Christian Church for many years until she moved to Lincoln to be closer to her family.

Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Scott (Dorie) Wiley, of Corpus Christi, Texas, Jeffrey Wiley, of Lexington, and Todd (Gretchen) Wiley, of Lincoln; grandchildren, Mandy (Eddie) Sanchez, of Corpus Christi, Sarah (Anthony) Maldonado, of Corpus Christi, Justin Wiley, Jennifer (Russ) Wiley, Joel (Brittney) Wiley, Megan Wiley and McKenna Wiley, all of Lincoln; great-grandchildren, Landon, Samuel, Harper, Bella, Ezrie, Eilah and Christian; sisters, Karen (Clark) Judy, of Fort Collins, Colorado and Connie (Bill) Buskist, of Saladia, Colorado; brother-in-law, Al (Dee) Sprenger, of Boseman, Montana; as well as nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Besides her parents, Charlene was preceded in death by her husband, Charles "Chuck" Wiley; and sister-in-law, Darlene Sprenger.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at 10:30 a.m., at the Lex Christian Church in Lexington with pastor Dave Leraaen officiating.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington, with family receiving guests from 5 to 7 p.m.

Graveside Services will be held at the Greenwood Cemetery in Lexington following the service.

Memorials are kindly suggested to the Lexington Volunteer Fire Department or the Lex Christian Church.
