Teresa Maier Obituary

Our beloved wildflower, Teresa Maier peacefully passed away on June 24th, 2025, due to a short and brave battle with leukemia. She was surrounded by her family as she took her final breaths here on Earth and graduated onto her Heavenly home with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Teresa was born Teresa Lee Meier, February 11, 1955, in Palo Alto, CA. Her parents, David and Betty Meier welcomed their third and final baby girl into this world. She joined her two older sisters, Carol and Kathy. Teresa enjoyed taking baton lessons, guitar lessons and shared in love for all things Beatles with her sisters. Her parents relocated their family to Stockton, CA in 1965. She attended elementary schools in Hayward and Stockton and went on to graduate from Stagg High school in 1973.
In 1972, Teresa met her first and only love, Ernie Maier. Their quick love was unexpected, but true and apparent to all. Before long, they were inseparable. Ernie and Teresa were wed October 6th, 1974, in Yosemite Valley, where they donned the grooviest dress and pant suit handmade by the bride herself.
Ernie and Teresa welcomed their first son, Eli in 1975, and second son, Mark in 1979. There was nothing she loved more than sharing her world with her two boys.
In 1978, Ernie and Teresa built their "mansion of blessings" in Lockeford, CA, where they raised their boys and played hard with their grandchildren and great grandchildren for the last 47 years.
Once the boys were in school, Teresa worked as a cleaner for over 20 years, serving her local home church as well as Grace Presbyterian and multiple families in the Lodi area.
Teresa was dedicated to her family, her friends, her church and any stranger that needed encouragement. She was a devoted prayer warrior, and a lifetime learner of the Word. Teresa taught countless children about the love of God during Sunday School and hosted many Bible studies in her home.
Teresa loved supporting the kids, grandkids and great grandkids in all the sports they loved to play. All soccer, football, baseball, basketball and softball games, you would find her on the sideline cheering on her favorite players.
Teresa loved taking pictures of her family and capturing every special moment. You would often see her with her camera around her neck, ready to document the event. Teresa loved hiking and being in nature. She relished the days spent outside in God's creation, hunting for her favorite wildflowers and the perfect heart rock.
Teresa is survived by her husband of 50 years, Ernie Maier of Lockeford. Her sons, Eli (Beckie) Maier of Woodbridge and Mark (Serena) Maier of Lockeford. Grandchildren, Elijah, Carlie, Alexis, Jacob and Zane. Great grandchildren, Raven, Lavender and Juniper. Sister, Kathy (Steve) Messlein of Stockton, and numerous nieces and nephews as well as extended family members and friends who regarded her as Mom and Grandma.
She is preceded in death by her parents David and Betty Meier and her sister Carol (Scott) Pennington. She was also able to walk alongside both of her daughters-in-law when they lost their mothers and pieces of the family, Velda Danielson and Jymme Knott.
"Jesus said to her, ' I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die'." John 11:25-26

One of my fondest memories ( and there were many) of my dear friend and neighbor Teresa was attending the Bob Dylan concert on May 18, 2025. It was an incredible 12 hour day spent in friendship, love , laughter and music!!!

I spent a lot of time with the Maiers as a kid. Teresa was always kind and compassionate, letting us kids have good fun while encouraging our creativity. I'll try to carry the kindness she showed into my daily life. She was a force of good and will be sorely missed.

Teresa was my friend for over 50
years. It was love at first sight in a way. We shared so much fun, love and adventure. Although we were far about geographically we always stayed in touch. We used to call her old Rambler Pugs. Talk about shenanigans!! I will love her eternally and miss her forever.

Teresa was my roommate at sugarbowl ski resort. We became lifelong friends. She and Ernie were constants in our lives. No matter how long since we´d seen each other it was like we never missed a beat. I/we will miss her so much. Her faith was strong, her love for friends and family too. Love you all. Praying your faith brings you comfort.

I first met Teresa when I was a wild teenager. I never felt judged by her. She made sure that I felt loved by her. I was blessed to be able to reconnect with her as an adult while living a life with Jesus. She always had a smile and hug for me and would share stories of her latest adventure. Teresa will always hold a place in my heart because knowing her will always be a special gift from God. We love you Teresa and will see you again when it´s our time to come home.

I remember the day you and Ernie walked into Camp Richardson and then stayed all summer. We had a blast working together and becoming friends in the summer of 1974! Such a gentle soul you will be missed

What a truly wonderful woman she was. Every time my daughter needed help with anything I would turn around and there she and Ernie were. She will be missed by everyone who knew her and we were lucky enough for that honor. I´m sure she´s comforted enough that she will be there waiting on seeing everyone she has ever loved again
