Richard "Dan" Sheridan Wykoff, age 81, a former resident of New Carlisle and a dedicated farmer, passed away after being hospitalized for a week in Palm Springs, California, on July 5, 2025.
Born on March 4, 1944, in South Bend, Indiana, Dan grew up on the family farm and was a star athlete as a young man, earning WigWam All-American honors as a football quarterback at New Carlisle High School. Dan was a farmer and cattle rancher and loved that lifestyle. He also worked for several years in the insulation business. In addition to farming, Dan served his country as a member of the United States Army Reserves.
He is survived by his three children, Danielle and Gordon Jorgenson, Jason and Gretchan Wykoff, and Steven Wykoff; and his seven grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters, Pam Houston, Corrine Chapman, Jennifer Fortlander and Angela Prgomelja; and brothers, Chris Wykoff and John Baldwin.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in his memory.
