Daniel J. Barman
November 23, 1954 - September 8, 2025
MIDDLETON - Daniel J. Barman, age 70, passed on to eternal life peacefully on Monday, September 8, 2025, in the home that he built in Middleton, in the company and care of his family after an 18-year battle with cancer. He lived his own way, on his terms, until the very end.
Dan was born on November 23, 1954, the oldest son of Joseph and Mary (Maier) Barman. He graduated from Wisconsin Heights High School in 1972. Dan enlisted in the United States Army in 1972. He was stationed in Germany. Dan was honorably discharged and returned home in 1976.
On October 29, 1977, Dan married Mary C. Haag at St. John's Catholic Church in Waunakee. Dan worked in the trades before starting Barman Construction. Dan and Mary were blessed with five children, Melissa, Brad, Laurie, Adam and Andrea. Dan and Mary built a beautiful life together filled with hard work, love, laughter, family, neighbors and friends. Dan was an avid fisherman, gardener, builder and "fungi-enthusiast." Dan would barter or trade vegetables or canned goods to friends and neighbors. He had a wealth of knowledge about a wide variety of topics that he loved to share with others. His hard work as a gardener fed his family with the freshest, healthiest food, which he was extremely proud of. His skills as a builder and tradesman were second to none. He was very proud to pass along those skills to his children so that his legacy would be passed on to others. The fruits of his labor and knowledge are embedded very deeply in each one of his children to pass on for many years.
Survivors include his loving wife of 47 years, Mary; and their children, Melissa (Tom) Moss of Sauk City, Bradley (Sarah) Barman of Sun Prairie, Laurie (Teddy) Barman of St. Petersburg, Fla., Adam (Christi Pasqualetto) Barman of Lodi and Andrea (Sam Willams) Barman of Chicago, Ill. In addition, he is survived by five grandchildren, Benjamin, Audrey, Rosemary, Caleb and Tigré; and his siblings and in-laws. He loved to take his grandkids fishing to all his "spots" to teach them the right way to fish. He loved taking them to his garden to pick berries and other produce.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Joseph; father and mother-in-law, Cyril and Laura Haag; and his brother, Michael Barman.
