DeAnn Molskness
July 16, 1937 - June 30, 2025
DeAnn Leigh (Hilde) Molskness, 87, of Madison, South Dakota went home peacefully to her Lord on Monday, June 30, 2025. Born July 16, 1937 in rural Lake County to Luther and Maxine (Johnson) Hilde. DeAnn graduated from Beadle Campus High School in 1955. On March 10, 1957, she married Robert "Bob" Molskness and together they farmed for more than five decades near Rutland and Wentworth. In 2001 they moved to a farm closer to Madison and later settled in the Bethel Lutheran Community in Madison.
DeAnn earned her B.S. in Education from Dakota State College in 1972, with minors in Music and Spanish. She went on to teach Special Education for many years at the Chester School District. She loved music, taught piano lessons and performed, directed and taught handbell choirs for many years. DeAnn and Bob enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and abroad, including memorable trips to Brazil, Mexico, Norway, Iceland, Peru and Cuba.
DeAnn was an active member of Colman Lutheran Church and Trinity Lutheran Church, the Madison Area Retired Teachers Association, and Handbell Musicians of America.
Grateful for her life are her four sons, Robert (Kathy) of Appleton, WI, Aaron (Marla) of Broomfield, CO, Marcus (Lana) of Wentworth, SD, Daryl (Kirsten) of Aberdeen, SD; and foreign exchange "son" Juan Moya Cavazos of Monterrey, Mexico.
DeAnn is also survived by nine grandchildren, Sara Molskness, Melissa (Jason) Riechers, Laura (Kyle) Lentsch, Nathan Schultz, Mattie (Kyle) Buckmiller, Jessica Molskness, Joshua Molskness, Jakob Molskness and Hannah Molskness; along with eight great-grandchildren and her sister Gloria (Gerald) Doering of Franklin, NC; and brother-in-law Nick, (Jeannie) Kirincich of Fisher IN.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 57 years, Bob (2014); and her brother, Dennis Hilde.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Madison, followed by a luncheon. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Private interment will take place at a later date at Colman Lutheran Cemetery. Online guest book can be found at
