Dennis Smith Obituary

Dennis Jule Smith passed away at his home in Black Hawk, SD, on September 11, 2025.
He was born to Floyd and Jean (Mailloux) Smith of Ramona, SD, on April 16, 1940. He spent his early years on the farm northwest of Ramona and moved to Rapid City in the late 1960's. He, and his wife, Beverly, survived the Rapid City flood of 1972. They lived in the Gap just a half a block off Rapid Creek at the base of M Hill.
Dennis covered many miles of the state hauling gravel and hot mix, along with. his father "Dutch" and his uncle, Dick Smith. He was an avid fan of anything with wheels and focused especially on Oldsmobile Toronados. He was a lover of pets and all outdoor animals.
At the present time, there are no formal services planned. If you would like to make a personal memorial, you can do so to a pet shelter or the Humane Society in your area.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Beverly; and two brothers, Douglas and Roger, sisters-in-laws, Caroline, Pauline and Gloria.
Those left to remember him are his wife of 60+ years, Beverly, and several nieces and nephews and friends. He will be placed by his parents in the Ramona cemetery, close to many of his family members and friends and his hometown roots.
