Robert Stevens Obituary

Robert Allen Stevens, 87, of New Middletown, Ohio, passed away peacefully to be with the Lord in the early morning hours of October 14, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. Born on Christmas Day in 1937 in Youngstown, Ohio, Bob was the son of Eugene and Elene (Longanecker) Stevens. He lived a life marked by service, hard work, and devotion to family. Bob spent his career as a foreman at Wean United Engineering and Copperweld Steel, where he was known for his craftsmanship, integrity, and strong work ethic. Outside of work, Bob dedicated himself to his community as a volunteer fireman in North Lima, Ohio, always ready to lend a helping hand. He found joy in the outdoors-whether on the golf course, in the woods, or tending to his garden. Known for his legendary tomatoes and generous zucchini harvests, Bob took great pleasure in sharing the fruits of his labor with family, friends, caregivers, and neighbors alike. A true craftsman at heart, he enjoyed building muzzleloaders, carving walking sticks, and tinkering with countless projects in his basement and shed. He loved creating things with his hands and took pride in giving them new life and purpose. Bob was raised a Master Mason in 1979 at East Palestine Lodge No. 417, where he remained a proud member for 45 years. He also belonged to the Valley of Youngstown, Scottish Rite, where he received his 32°, a reflection of his lifelong commitment to brotherhood, integrity, and service. He attended the Woodworth Church of the Brethren in North Lima as well as Bethel Church of the Brethren in New Middletown. He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Sandra (Waggaman); his daughter Cindy (Donald Parker Jr.); his son James (Lisa); his cherished grandchildren David Simcox, Michael Simcox (Taylor), Steven Simcox, Kenneth Stevens (Katie), and Emily Stevens (fiancé Wid); great-granddaughters Sophie and Scarlett Simcox; and his sister Shirley Mussler. He was preceded in death by his brother Lloyd Stevens. Bob will be remembered for his quiet strength, fighting spirit, positive attitude, and the deep love he held for God and his family. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the values he passed down. In keeping with Bob's wishes, there will be no calling hours or services. His life was a testament to humility, family, and service-a life well-lived and loved. He will be deeply missed.
