Lee Pomeroy Obituary

Lee Pomeroy
San Pedro California
May 23, 2025
Lee Joseph Pomeroy, 78, of San Pedro, CA passed away on May 23, 2025, after a short battle with cancer surrounded by family. Lee was born August 6, 1946, in Manistee, MI to Lee and Gloria (Modjeski) Pomeroy and dubbed the eldest of nine children. Lee is survived by his wife of 40 years, Muriel MacDonald Pomeroy of San Pedro; his mother, Gloria Pomeroy of Manistee, MI; three brothers, Calvin Pomeroy of Ludington, Matthew Pomeroy of Manistee, Robert Pomeroy and Starlyn Gumpenberger of Manistee; four sisters, Sandie Pomeroy Rozell of Pine Island Fl, Janet and Mike Pomeroy of Freesoil, Rose and Steve Locke of Manistee, Jennifer Pomeroy and David Ewing of Scottville; sister in-law, Joy Bowers Pomeroy of Marquette; sister in-law, Tammy Pomeroy of Manistee; numerous nieces and nephews.
Lee was preceded in death by his father, Lee Joseph Pomeroy Sr.; brother, Russell Pomeroy of Marquette, MI.; sister in-law, Karen Pomeroy of Manistee, MI.
Lee proudly served his country for 12 years in the United States Marine Corps and recognized with the honor of being a Vietnam veteran. After Lee left the Corps, he moved to Austin, TX where he attended Saint Edwards University earning his bachelor's degree. He then worked for Texas Instruments as a Technical Writer. Lee relocated to San Pedro, CA. While Lee transitioned employers, to Teledyne, he continued his career as a Technical Writer. After his career as a Technical Writer, he then went on to become a Longshore Man for 16 years. It should go without saying that Lee loved his job working at the largest shipping port in the country. One of Lees' greatest joys was sailing his sailboat with his wife Muriel.
After Lees retirement, he and Muriel enjoyed traveling cross country in their motorhome with their dogs Pippa, Toby, and Zelda to Manistee. Lee loved to travel to Manistee to visit his friends, family, and hometown. So much so, they purchased a summer home there so he could be close to his family, whom which he loved, honored, and protected. Lee was a personification of decent standup guy who will be very missed by his family and friends and his sweet dog Zelda.
Geronimo Lee. For God, for country, for freedom, we love and will miss you dearly. Until next time.
*Lee had a Military Service on June 10, 2025, at 2 p.m. located at Green Hills 27501 S Western Ave, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA.
Lee's family will be having a celebration of his life on August 9th at 1 p.m. at Grant Township Hall 843 W Hoague Rd. Manistee MI.
