William Brown Obituary

William Carleton Lee Brown

July 15, 1946 - June 27, 2025

William Carleton "Carl" Lee Brown, 78, peacefully transitioned from this earthly life on Friday, June 27, 2025, in Roanoke, Virginia. He was born July 15, 1946, in Martinsville, Virginia, to the late Noah Davis Brown and Clydie Elizabeth Turner Brown.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Leonard "Keith" Brown, and his uncle, Obie Upsie Turner.

Carl proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. A dedicated student, he found accounting to be a fulfilling calling. After graduating from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, he enjoyed a successful career spanning over three decades as a CPA with Fieldcrest Mills. Known for his precision and eye for detail, he was a valued and respected professional. Even after retirement, he continued to assist others with their taxes.

A man of quiet reflection, Carl was also an avid golfer who found joy and camaraderie on the golf course. He cherished spending time with friends and was known for his thoughtfulness and gentle spirit.

His kindness will be fondly remembered by many, especially his nephew, William "Corbin" Brown; sister-in-law, Patsy Joyce Brown; and special friend, Mabel Draper.

Although services will be private, the family deeply appreciates the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time.
