David Howard Obituary

David Jan Howard, 80, of Greenville, passed away on November 1, 2022, at Hunt Regional Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be Sunday, November 6, 2022, at 3:00 PM in the chapel of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home with Rev. Brent Grissom officiating, burial will follow the service at Memoryland Memorial Park. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the funeral home.


Jan was born on August 28, 1942, in Gainesville, Texas, to Charles Henry Howard and Naomi Blanche Beckner Howard. After graduation from Prairie Valley High School he attended Tarleton State College in Stephenville. Jan enlisted in the United States Air Force where he proudly served his country. After Jan got out of the Air Force he worked for Northrop at Sheppard Air Force base where he gained his commercial pilots license. Later Jan worked for Dowell Oil Services then later worked for Halliburton. Jan attended the First Assembly Of God Church in Greenville. Jan had a passion for aviation and loved flying in his spare time.

Jan is survived by his wife Lynda of Greenville, son Nathan Judd Howard of Greenville, daughter Holli Janine Moore and husband Mike of Granbury, brothers Timothy Howard and wife Pam of Hewitt, Steven Howard and wife Nelda of Nocona, grandchildren Mamie Haven Moore and Maximus Banks Moore, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jan was preceded in death by his parents, brother Gary, several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Pallbearers will be Mike Moore, Jansen Powell, Joel Powell, Josh Denman, Chad Wuerch and Cody Phillips.
