Marty G. Gurley, 66 of Metropolis, passed away Monday, Jan. 27, 2025, at Baptist Health Paducah.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, 2025, at Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home.
Marty was a union painter for over 40 years with District 91, Local 500 in Paducah, Kentucky., and in later years, he also served as trustee. After retirement, he enjoyed playing pool and being with his family. You could often find Marty at Hardee's drinking Coca-Cola or in Ft. Massac State Park taking a nap. He never met a stranger and was known to many as their "Uncle Marty". Marty loved to make people laugh and never missed an opportunity to talk about "his girls" or grandchildren.
Marty is survived by his daughters, Tracy France and husband Daniel, Kimberly Lorenzo, Lisa Glosson and husband Geion, Amber Odle and husband Tim, Keliann Hardy and husband Trey, Lucy Hall and wife Kelsey, and Becca Johnson and husband Zack; grandchildren, Gavin Gurley, Ethan Wulff, Christian Wulff, Latrell Shannon, Martin Lorenzo, Adelaide Hosseini, Wyatt France, and Ava Johnson; siblings, Eddie Gurley, Brenda Collier and husband Jerry, and Timmy Gurley; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William "Charlie" and Eva (English) Gurley; two sisters, Barbara Charlene Anderson and Angela Marie Harwood; infant brother, Jackie Don Gurley; nephew, Little Charlie; great nephews, Little Willie and Dustin.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 30 at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be given in Marty's name to Loftus-McManus Funeral Homes, Inc. to help the family with funeral expenses. They may be given through his obituary page or mailed to P.O. Box 760, Metropolis, IL 62960.
