John Henry Dallas
Our loving husband, dad, & papa passed away peacefully July 12, 2025 with his family by his side, following a courageous & hard-fought battle with cancer.
John was born February 16, 1954 to the late Richard & Rita Dallas. He grew up in a loving home, raised on the family farm in Ruth along with his brothers & sisters. At the age of 10, he started working alongside his dad at the family business, Dallas Standard Service. Together they worked side-by-side, with John eventually taking over the business in 1984. His dad stayed on for many years, and eventually they were joined by John's nephew, Kevin. Three generations of hard-working men took joy in servicing the town of Ruth. John retired in August of 2023, dedicating nearly 60 years to his loyal customers.
John met his soulmate and best friend, Debbie, in January 1977, marrying just eleven months later on November 5, 1977. Their brief courtship led to nearly fifty years of marriage, filled with adventure, love, & happiness. Together they built their life, with John helping run his wife's business, Hart's Florist, as well as his own. You could always count on him to have your flowers delivered, sometimes with him dressing up as the Easter Bunny or Santa Claus! John & Debbie worked together as partners in business as well as in life, never missing the opportunity to have fun along the way. They loved to go dancing, travel to Vegas, enjoy time at their home in Mesquite, where John found peace gazing at the mountains, & take their daughter on special trips. Their daughter, Nichole, could often be found by his side, whether it was going with him to sell permits, deliver flowers, or just riding in his van listening to the Monkees. He was never too busy to stop to buy her a Barbie or go for a bike ride.
One of John's happiest & proudest moments was the birth of his grandchildren, Preston & Jayden. They were the light of his life from the moment he found out he was going to be a grandpa. He never wasted one moment when they were together, often taking them for ice cream, riding on Big Orange, his tractor, or the endless hours they would spend playing card games. He loved to tease them & they teased right back, especially about the fact he couldn't cook, joking he could only use a microwave!
John also loved his time serving as Treasurer, and later President, of the Thumb Area Transit Board of Directors. He enjoyed his many years of serving the community, as well as his time with his fellow board members.
John is survived by his loving wife, Debbie, his daughter, Nichole and son-in-law, Erik Radomski, whom he welcomed to the family with open arms.. He will forever be remembered & cherished by his grandchildren, Preston & Jayden Radomski, and his many nieces and nephews. He also wishes to thank his & his wife's siblings for their support during his cancer journey, who survive him: Mary Hoard, Bob (Veronica) Dallas, Judy (Dave) Blaine, Tom (Karen) Dallas, Nancy (Jim) Talaski, Pam (Dale) Booms, Tonda (Jerry) Ignash, Roxy (Bob) Turner, & Russell Gotts.
Along with his parents, John is preceded in death by his parents-in-law, William & Donna Gotts, his nephew, Robert Dallas, brother-in-law, Robert Hoard, his grandparents, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Lastly, John would like to thank his loyal customers for their many years of support and friendship. He would like to be remembered with a smile on his face and grease on his hands.
