Roy Brickey Obituary

Roy L. Brickey Jr.
Roy L. Brickey Jr. passed away of congestive heart failure Monday July 7, 2025, at Pilgrim Manor, the skilled nursing facility at Covenant Living, Cromwell, CT. Born in New Rochelle, NY on October 22, 1935, he was the son of the late Mary Louise MacNeil Brickey and Roy L. Brickey Sr.
Roy graduated from New Rochelle High School in 1953, attended Cornell University for three years, transferred to the University of Tulsa then graduated in 1958 with a B.S. degree having majored in petroleum geology. After graduating, he served in the US Army in 1958 and 1959 then the Reserve until 1964. Roy's big achievements of his life included being an Eagle Scout, making Dean's list at the University of Tulsa and, as a star high school football player, being offered 11 scholarships to colleges.
Roy married Janet Yvonne Jordan (aka "Yonne") August 10, 1957 in Rochester, N.Y. They have two adult children: Laurie Mosley and Scott Brickey who have families all living out of the area.
Roy and Yonne lived in Haddam from 1988 until 2000, then moved to Middletown where they stayed until moving to Covenant Living in Cromwell. Roy worked as a service director for multiple car dealerships with Town and Country Auto Sales, mainly in Middletown, CT.
When living in Haddam, Ct he enjoyed being on the Ct River and Long Island Sound in his 20' boat and spent many hours out with family and friends on the water. Roy also enjoyed cooking, playing bridge, watching football, vegetable gardening, and making pickles and assisting Yonne with the framing of her saleable art.
Roy was a member of First Church UCC in Middletown until moving to Cromwell. He served as a trustee and deacon.
The staff at Pilgrim Manor became family to Roy. They were wonderful. Great thanks to them. Family plans have not yet been made but the burial will be in the future in Valhalla, NY.
