Maverine Anderson Obituary

Maverine Augusta Mae Anderson passed away on June 23, 2025 surrounded by her loving family.

Maverine was born on May 28, 1937 in Benson, MN to Helmer and Lydia Evenson and was the tenth of eleven children. After graduating from Wilmar High School in 1955, she worked as a waitress for several years and helped her parents on the farm. She married Gordon (Gordy) Anderson from Onamia, MN on February 16, 1963 in Bethany Lutheran Church in Onamia, MN. They had five children: Blandy, Julie, Connie, Mark and Christine.

Maverine retired in 2001 from the Onamia school system after 30 years of service, where her jobs included cook, lunch lady, and then para professional. She enjoyed dancing, sewing, quilting, gardening, walking, sudoku, jigsaw puzzles, visiting with friends and family, and serving in the church as a greeter, usher, and other volunteer work.

Maverine is survived by her husband, Gordon Anderson of Onamia, MN, children: Julie (Bruce) Grothaus of Sisseton, SD, Connie Petersen of Baxter, MN, Mark (Lisa) Anderson of Garrison, MN, and Christine Anderson of St. Cloud, MN, 16 grandchildren and step grandchildren, over 50 great grandchildren and step great grandchildren, several great-great grandchildren, siblings: Francine (Charles) Swenson of Sauk Rapids, MN and Faith Skindelien of New London, MN.

Maverine is preceded in death by her parents, son Blandy Anderson, son-in-law Mark Petersen, grandsons: Patrick Sullivan and Cory Anderson, siblings: Caroll (Mildred) Evenson, Lorraine (Roy) Lee, Myron (Vivian) Evenson, June (Paul) Horns, Avis (Eldon) Carlson, Harland (Elaine) Evenson, Ludean Evenson, and Charlene (Don 'Lindy') Lindberg.

Funeral Service will be held at Bethany Lutheran Church in Onamia at 11:00 on the 19th of July, a luncheon will follow at the Onamia Vets Club.
