Charlotte Dent Unger

1949 ~ 2025

Charlotte was born on September 7, 1949 in Seattle, WA to parents Robert and Elinor Dent. She left this world on July 2, 2025 at her home in Fremont, CA at the age of 75.

Charlotte grew up in the greater Seattle area and enjoyed family camping adventures with her parents and three brothers. She graduated from Shorecrest Highschool in the spring of 1967 and attended Wellesley College in Massachusetts. She graduated from Wellesley in 1971.

In her adult life she married her college sweetheart Tom and raised three sons. She shared many adventures with her family in the mountains near Ketchum, ID and around the world. In her community she helped run several non-profits including the Advocates and The Hunger Coalition. She also owned and ran a business in Moab, Utah, which was founded by her and her husband in 2006.

In 2012 her husband passed and Charlotte charted her own path. She continued to forge lasting friendships within her community. Extended trips into the wilderness were common in the mountains of Idaho, the red rock canyons of Moab, and the European Alps. All these adventures were in the company of her loving and vibrant group of friends.

In August of 2024, Charlotte moved to Fremont, CA to be closer to one of her sons and away from the snowy winters of Idaho. Shortly after the move she was diagnosed with ALS, which brought a devastating deterioration to her mobility and health.

Charlotte is survived by her brother Bob, three sons: Geoff, Graham and Spencer, and 2 grandchildren. Her wit, adventurous spirit and loving presence is greatly missed.

In her memory the Unger Family would like to suggest a donation to the ALS Network, an organization that helped her and her family through a difficult journey with ALS.
