Thomas Jacobs Obituary

Thomas Andrew Jacobs

December 27, 1945 - April 12, 2025

Crescent City, California - Tom Jacobs, a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and lifelong friend, passed away peacefully on April 12th, 2025, with his family by his side unexpectedly in Eureka CA.

Born on December 27th, 1945, to Isaac Jacobs and Mary Y. Yohanna, he grew up on a Turlock dairy farm alongside his sister Marlene. "Tommy," to his family and friends attended school at Washington Elementary School then onto Chatom before graduating with the class of 1963 from Turlock High School. After graduating, he joined the National Guard in 1965. Along the way, his jobs at Bright's Foods and Gemperle Egg Packing, not to mention attending Modesto Junior College to add to his busy load.

During his time with the National Guard, his unit was called to action to assist with the Berkley Riots in 1969. While working at Casey's Gas Station Tommy met the Love of his Life and the woman he would marry, Robbin Cavness. After meeting Robbin, they soon married in 1971, and a family soon followed. They were blessed with a daughter and a son completing their family and moving to Hilmar CA. Tom's career with the Guard would soon come to an end, finishing after 7 years with the rank of sergeant. His last job was with the International Paper Company, retiring after 42 years as a machine operator. He learned the trade of carpet work from a good friend at International Paper Company he worked along side, Gary Collard.

Ever the romantic, he made it possible for his wife Robbin to achieve her nursing degree. On several occasions he would have a bouquet of flowers waiting for her before she arrived at work. She was the envy of her work staff.

Tom's love for his family and friends was undeniable, he was always there for a BBQ, fishing trip, or a Harley Davidson bike ride with his wife Robbin. They made their biggest trip ever to Sturgis and loved it! Tommy and Robbin moved to the coast in 2020 to Crescent City leaving the valley behind.

Another love was camping every chance he got, whether it was Pismo Beach or Del Porto Canyon, his partner in crime was his best friend, Bob Silva. These friends were a true testament of Brothers, not by blood, but just true friends.

Tom's pride and joy were his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Proud, Papa was always cheering his youngsters on during sports events and choir assemblies. Papa was a push-over when it came to his babies. The many years of hard work took a toll on his body but Papa would still get down on the floor to play with his little ones, running to McDonald's for lunch for his grandsons Devin and Lathan or buying a swimming pool for his granddaughter Morgan because she knew "Papa will buy it for me!" Papa knew how to spoil his babies.

Thomas is survived by his wife Robbin of 53 years, daughter Kristian (son-in-law Anthony Azevedo), son Thomas Andrew Jacobs ll (Andy) (daughter-in-law Gorett Jacobs), grandsons Devin Azevedo (granddaughter-in-law Sierra Azevedo), Lathan Azevedo (granddaughter-in-law Haley Azevedo), granddaughter Morgan, great-grandsons Aiden, Aryus, and Noah, sister Marlene Knutson-Vale. He is preceded in death of his parents Isaac and Mary Jacobs and sister Linda Jacobs.

While our hearts ache for his physical absence we take comfort knowing he is surrounded by those he loved and missed so dearly. He leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love and joyful memories for us to cherish always.

In closing, the family of Thomas Jacobs invites you his family and friends to celebrate his life! There will be a luncheon on Saturday June 28th, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. at the Larsa Banquet Hall located at 2107 E. Monte Vista Ave Denair CA 95316.

Tommy & Robin are true friends in all ways! Tommy always had a smile and something to share with his family and friends. Our hearts are sad, but we will cherish the most loving memories we have had with our dear friend.

My deepest sympathy to all his family. Met Tommy at Washington 4-H Club in Turlock as a kid. He was always friendly and smiling. Then in High School, he was in the play Annie Get Your Gun with many of us that knew him. He kept us laughing. After high school, would see him at the gas station or grocery store. Always a hello and catching up on what was happening. He was a really happy person and shared it with everyone. I wasn't a close friend, just a person he knew and yet whenever we ran into each other, he was sure to say hello. He was a very kind person. So very sorry for your loss. Mary Ellen Trent Class of 65
