Dennis Bird Obituary
Our family's light flickers a little dimmer with the passing of Dennis LaRay Bird, on July 10, 2025. He passed away peacefully at the age of 93 due to natural progression of time. Reunited with the love of his life, Carolyn Lewis Bird, who preceded him in death. Born on November 15, 1931, in Dingle, Idaho, Dennis came into the world as a twin - a fitting start for a life deeply rooted in family, faith, and hard work. He was the son of John Roy and Natalea Hansen Bird and grew up alongside his siblings: William "Bill" O'Neal Bird, Mary Christina Bird Peterson, Murline Bird Miller, Delmore Russel Bird, (who passed at a year of age) and his twin brother Darrell LeRoy Bird. One of Dennis's greatest blessings came when he met Carolyn Lewis at a dance in 1954 - a night he would never forget. From their first dance, Dennis knew Carolyn was the one he had prayed for. They were married on February 8, 1956, in the Logan, Utah Temple and spent their lives side by side, building a home filled with faith, sacrifice, laughter, and love. Together they raised four children - Eldon, Don, Jan, and Denice - each of whom brought Dennis deep pride and purpose. He often joked that he needed boys to help him on the farm, and he certainly got the hardworking sons he'd hoped for. When Jan arrived, her cheerful spirit brightened every day, and little Denice, their "Easter bunny," made their family complete. Nothing brought Dennis more joy than watching his children raise families of their own. His grandchildren were his pride and delight - his ranch was never without grandkids riding along, working by his side, playing ball, rodeoing, or building treehouses in the yard. Dennis never missed a ball game, a rodeo, or a chance to brag about how his grandkids always jumped in to help and made him proud to the very end. He taught his children and grandchildren that life is what you make it - "You can make it damn miserable or enjoyable despite what is happening around you." He chose joy every day and encouraged his family to do the same. In his own words: "It's always been about being with my family, working together, talking, playing games, and laughing. Those are the best memories that I will cherish forever." Dennis leaves behind his loving children Eldon (Vicki) Bird of Dingle Id, Don (Cheryl) Bird of Mud Lake, Id, Jan (Carson) Price of Montpelier, Id, Denice (Glen) Gillies of Dingle Id, and his many adored grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a great-great granddaughter; along with countless friends and neighbors who will forever cherish his stories, his kindness, and his example of a life well-lived. A funeral service to celebrate Dennis's life will be held on Saturday July 19,2025, 12:00 p.m. at the Dingle Chapel, 4197 Dingle Rd, Dingle, Idaho. A viewing will be held July 19, 10:00-11:45 am also at the Dingle Chapel. Interment will be at the Dingle Cemetery. The family invites you to honor Dennis by loving your family a little harder, helping a neighbor, and sharing a good story - just as he always did.
