Gloria Simmons Obituary

Life and Legacy of Gloria Simmons "And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love." 1 Corinthians 13:13 Gloria Simmons was born on September 15, 1946, in Charleston, South Carolina, to the late Thaddeus and Helen Simmons. From the very beginning, Gloria's life was a reflection of love, faith, and family. A proud graduate of C.A. Brown High School, Gloria went on to dedicate more than twenty-five years of service to the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in the Dietary Department. Her kind heart and gentle spirit touched the lives of countless coworkers and patients throughout her career. After retiring, Gloria devoted her days to caring for her loved ones, including her brothers Solomon Wise, Sr., Ronald Simmons, and her beloved mother, Helen Simmons. Her selflessness and compassion were unwavering, Gloria lived her life in service to others, never seeking recognition, but always giving love. Gloria was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Carl Bailey, her parents, and six of her brothers. She leaves to cherish her precious memories: her loving sisters Hattie D. Murray and Mattie L. White; her brother Irvin Davis (Myra Davis); and a host of adoring nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will forever hold her close in their hearts. Though Gloria did not have biological children of her own, she was a mother figure to many both within her family and throughout her community. Her nurturing nature and wisdom shaped generations, and her home was always a place of warmth, laughter, and love. For over twenty-five years, Gloria was a faithful member of Transformational Church, where she worshipped, served, and inspired others through her faith and steadfast devotion to God. Gloria was truly the glue that held our family together. A woman of strength, grace, and endless love. Her memory will forever be a guiding light to all who were blessed to know her. The relatives and friends of Gloria Simmons are invited to attend her Celebration of Life Service, 11am, Friday, October 24, 2025 at The Old Ashley Baptist Associational Center, 3275 Old Pond Road, John's Island, SC. My Condolences to the family

Angela McCoy Orr

October 21, 2025

It is with a sad heart as I reflect on the moments shared.
Ms Gloria has been a beacon of light, and an encouraging force. She was ALWAYS telling me of the love she had for me as well as the love of God. She seemed to know if I was feeling down and had no problem pulling me to the side to speak whatever was on her heart. I appreciated the love extended to me especially at that particular time in my life. When I walked in MSBC I didn´t see her but after while, I knew she was in the building when she sang or said AMEN with that powerful and distinct voice of hers.

Condolences to Ms. Gloria's family. She was a very warm, kind and loving person who always had something positive or something inspiring to say all the years of knowing her at MUSC. To all of us "remember that God gave us memories". RIP
