Alice Glen Obituary

Alice "Jimmie" Letchworth Glen of Chestertown, MD, passed away July 18, 2025. She was 83.

She was born in Philadelphia, PA on September 16, 1941, the daughter of the late Logan Bruce Glen and Janet Letchworth Glen. She graduated from Westtown Friends School and went on to attend Temple University in Philadelphia, PA and graduated from Washington College in Chestertown, MD. She earned an executive MBA from Loyola University in Baltimore, MD.

She began her career working with the Social Security Administration as head of policy and procedures for the Bureau of hearings and appeals. Her experience and tenacity led her to further her career with the Port of Baltimore, as a consultant at a travel agency, an insurance company, and culminating in offering pro bono consulting work for women business owners. She had two consulting businesses, including The Newcomb Group and ALG Associates.

Jimmie served on the boards of numerous organizations in Washington, D.C., including the Georgetown Business and Professional Association, Washington Area Council on Alcohol and Drug Addiction, Georgetown Arts Commission, and the Women in Business Policy Committee, etc. After her retirement, she became a medical advocate, helping with estates, medical services, wills, and rehabilitation, all pro bono.

Jimmie loved racing sailboats and did so for 75 years. She liked to say "J was born with a tiller in my hands. She tilled for the log canoe "Mystery" for 61 years. She believed that laughter was an essential part of life.

A service will be held Thursday August 14, 2025, at Fellows, Helfenebin & Newnam Funeral Home Chestertown, MD at 11am with a reception to follow.
