JOHN JENNINGS Obituary

John Arthur Jennings, a lifelong resident of Burlington, passed away, surrounded by family on Sunday, September 14, 2025, at Joseph Brant Hospital following a stroke. At 92, he still left us too soon. Born on February 22, 1933, youngest son of Arthur and Ethelda (Fell) Jennings, John lived his life for his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Jacqueline (née Lancaster); his daughters, Leslie (James Wilson) and Tracy; grandchildren, Bryn, Vaughn, and Niamh Wilson, and Adam and Amy Beach; and a close-knit extended family. He was predeceased by his brother, Walter; and sister, Margaret Watson. After graduating from McMaster University, John worked in sales and management at Stelco, including a three-year posting in 1960s London, England, where he was responsible for all European sales. He later earned an MBA from York University and retired after 37 years, respected as a handshake businessman who made his decisions based on facts, not popular opinion. John was a devoted husband, an involved father, and a lifelong traveller. He embraced the foods of the world - even to Jacquie's dismay, kippers, and especially cassoulet. He loved lively discourse, a good debate, and once hit a hole-in-one. In his later years, despite failing sight and hearing, he continued to embrace life with determination and found comfort and joy in his garden and regular family gatherings. We welcome all who knew John to join us in celebrating his life on Sunday, September 21, at Smith Funeral Chapel, 485 Brant Street, Burlington.
