Adeline "Addie" Emmons departed from this world on May 28, 2025, at the age of 91, in the same town where she was born, Big Rapids, Michigan. Adeline was the daughter of Dorothy (Manahan) Emmons and Albert Emmons. She also spent many years in Fremont and Kalamazoo.
Addie attended Michigan State University, Franklin Pierce Law Center, and Kripalu Center. This foundation of lifelong learning shaped her into an interesting and creative soul, whose passion was as evident in her career as it was in her personal pursuits. Addie's Book Nook, Regional Health Care, FiveCAP, Legal Aid and Yoga were some of her many commitments. Addie was an advocate for those in need.
She enjoyed art, books, fabric, dance, laughter and yoga, to name a few. Addie lived her life as a passionate advocate for civil rights and social justice, believing wholeheartedly in the power of individuals to enact change. She was a conscientious objector. She was brave.
Addie is survived by her children, Carrie Lee of Chippewa Lake, MI, Skylar Phoenix "Matt" of Soldotna, AK, Jeff Snyder of Curtis, MI, Andy (Patty Gallo) Snyder of Le Roy, MI, and her grandchildren, Corey Snyder, Tyler Snyder, Owen Snyder, Ryan Snyder, Philip Snyder, and Leah Snyder. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Joyce Emmons, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister Kathleen (Thomas Course) Emmons Course, and brothers Charles Emmons and John (JoAnne) Emmons.
In the words of the great poet Maya Angelou, "My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style". Addie embodied this mission, thriving with a style all her own, and inspiring those around her to do the same. Her laughter was a melody that resonated with the rhythm of life, and her creative spark ignited a flame of inspiration.
As we remember Adeline Emmons, let us celebrate a life extraordinarily lived. Her journey was one of purpose, her footprint indelible in the hearts of those she touched. Addie's story does not end with her passing; it continues in the lives she shaped, the community she nurtured, and the world she envisioned-one where love, justice, and joy prevail. May we honor her memory by living with the same interesting, creative, and passionate spirit that she shared so generously with us all.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Into the freedom of wind and sunshine, We let you go.
Into the dance of the stars and the planets, We let you go.
Into the wind's breath and the hands of the star maker, We let you go.
We love you, we miss you, we want you to be happy,
Go safely, go dancing, go running home.

"passion, compassion, humor, and style" yes, this sounds like Addie. She felt deeply. She was a special friend for many years in our yoga circle. I send sympathy to her family and friends. Robin
