Alan Andrew Shirley, 62, of Swan Point, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 29, 2025, with his beloved wife by his side.
Born on May 20, 1963, Washington, D.C., Alan was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Melinda Jean Shirley; his daughter Leah Marie DeBoe and son-in-law Phillip DeBoe: and his cherished grandchildren, Sawyer James DeBoe and Logan William DeBoe. He is also survived by his mother, Carol Lee Melvin; his sister, Lisa Jean Macy; and his brother, Mark David Shirley. He was preceded in death by his father, Wesley Shirley, and his brother, Michael Wesley Shirley.
Alan dedicated many years of services to the Charles County Board of Education, where he worked as the Supervisor of Maintenance. Known for his strong work ethic and generous spirit, Alan was the kind of person neighbors and friends could always count on in a time of need.
A man of quiet strength and deep compassion, Alan made the selfless decision to be an organ donor, continuing to help others even after his passing.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Humane Society of Charles County, a cause close to Alan's heart.
