Albert "AJ" Perez Jr, "Iish baasho aaxbaah" "Went to War with His Feather", 36, of Crow Agency, passed away on October 18, 2025, at the family home located on the ranch of his grandmother Cloe Badhorse on Hwy 212. He was a Piegan and child of Piegan. AJ also comes from a rich Hispanic/Mexican culture. AJ was born in Yakima, Washington, on July 6, 1989, to Albert Sr. and Edwina Perez and was the youngest of 5 siblings. He was a descendant of Max and Cordelia (Spotted Tail) Big Man and Bernardo and Angelina Perez.
He is survived by his four beloved children, Aaleah, Cedric, D'Andre, and Pearl Perez, his parents Edwina and Albert Perez, and his siblings Zachariah, Tana, Natoya, and Giselle, Vaughn, Simon, Angelo, and Ricky John.
AJ was proud of his Apsaalooke and Mexican heritage. He was known for his kind heart, tenacious smile, and his ability to see good in everyone. He found joy in life's simple moments and always sought to share light and happiness with others. His greatest pride and joy were his children. He raised his children and always reminded them about how much he loved them. AJ bought birthday and Christmas gifts every year that were stored away for years. AJ loved Pearl and told her, "Always remember Dad loves you, always, and never forget that."
AJ also had a lifelong passion for sports; his parents followed his baseball journey everywhere he went. AJ's father, Albert, would always stand behind the field and cheer out to AJ to hit the ball out to him. AJ was so determined too, and sure enough, he hit it right out of the field to his father, who caught his home run ball bare-handed. AJ was a very unique lefty baseball player. AJ loved his softball games; he loved to play and share with his family and friends. AJ was a Seattle sports fan due to his Washington roots and loved to follow the Seahawks football, Mariners baseball, and Super Sonics basketball.
He loved going into sweats with his brothers and spending time outdoors. He especially enjoyed jumping into Flathead Lake in Polson, Pryor Creek, and the Okabeh in Fort Smith to swim and fish with family, making memories full of laughter and love. AJ also loved going for nature walks and hiking the hills of 212, where he grew up. Camping with his kids in the hills of 212 and at Crow Fair was a special time for him.
He spent countless days growing up shooting around, playing 21, and having homerun derbies with his brothers out at 212. AJ grew up walking all over 212 to Grandma Cloe's, Pam's, and Gogo's to visit family. AJ would monkey around on the sand rocks of 212 with his sister Giselle, brothers Simon and Angelo. He would play on the bucking barrel behind his aunt Gogo's and build and hit jumps with his cousins on his bike at Pam's. Family and friends still laugh remembering the time AJ flew into the bush behind his aunty Pam's old trailer-a moment that perfectly captured his adventurous, carefree spirit.
