Aleta Marie Jones Jefferson, age 77 of Paron passed from this life on Saturday September 6, 2025. Aleta was born at Carswell Air Force Base in Fort Worth, Texas on March 11, 1948. After living in Puerto Rico and Maine, her family settled in central Arkansas and she graduated from Sylvan HIlls High School in 1966.
Aleta was a spry, spunky homemaker who loved her husband and her dogs with all that she had. Sometimes described as strong willed and independent, she was always up for a good shopping trip or a little vacation to the dog races or the casino. She was known for noting that things went “Swimmingly” at the end of a good shopping trip.
Aleta was married to the love of her life, James in 1972. They had 49 wonderful years together prior to his passing in 2022. Though they never had human children, they always had a Boston Terrier around to entertain them.
Aleta was preceded in death by her parents, Muncie and Eva Jones of Jacksonville, her husband James and her sister-in-law Ann McDonald. Left to cherish her memory are her faithful companion Mercy Blue, her Brothers-in-Law David (Pat) Jefferson, Danny McDonald; Nieces Dana (David) Waters, Dee (Philip) Forbush and Jana Southerland. Great Nieces Michaela (Jase) Piker and Allee Southerland; Great Nephews Keith (Lindsy) Waters, Drew (Madison) Waters, Cole (Hartly) Southerland; Great-Great Nieces and Nephews, Annie Waters, Eli Waters, Devyn Piker, Calvin Waters, Tesa Waters, Beckett Piker, Everly Southerland and Nora Waters.
Honorary Pall Bearers: Philip Forbush, David Waters, Keith Waters, Drew Waters, Cole Southerland, Jase Piker and Jesse McClellan.
