Alice Kahler Obituary

Alice Ruth Kahler, 88, of Cambridge, Iowa passed away Monday, April 28, 2025, at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, Iowa.
Alice was born on December 20, 1936, in Maxwell, Iowa to Benjamin and Sarah (George) Hartley. She graduated from Maxwell High School in 1955.
On December 3, 1955, she married Clifford (Skip) Kahler. To this union four children were born Mark, Crystal, Amber and Wade. Alice was a stay-at-home mom until she decided to make her career in real estate for 30 plus years working for Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate.
Alice enjoyed many things in life, the greatest of these was her love of family and church. Alice could be found crocheting, canning and gardening. Often, she was known to make quilts out of scraps from other quilting projects that her family loved to tease her about. Alice belonged to several different clubs and organizations which included the Cambridge Park Board, the Dorcas Society. Faithfully attended a weekly bible study at her church and many times, on Thursdays you could find her enjoying conversations and coffee with her coffee club.
Alice is survived by her children, Mark (DaLene) Kahler of Cambridge, Crystal (Mike) Hughes of Cambridge, Amber (Jay) Weeks of Ankeny and Wade (Pam) of Cambridge; 7 grandchildren Haylie, Mathew, Demi, Brandon, Shelbi, Katlyn and Ashley; 8 great - grandchildren with one on the way in August. She was preceded in death by both of her parents Benjamin and Sarah Hartley; husband, Clifford (Skip) Kahler; her brothers Joe, Ben, Alvie and triplet brothers that passed away at birth and one sister Florence.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Cambridge Fire Department.
