Alice Lorraine (Adams) Russenberger was born May 1, 1936, in Granada, MN, the daughter of Robert and Marie (Wiedow) Adams. She attended country school near Granada and moved with her family to Sherburn, MN, where she graduated from Sherburn High School with the class of 1955.
While in high school, Alice met John Russenberger and on December 16, 1956, they were united in marriage in Sherburn, Minnesota. The couple made their home in Fairmont before making moves to Trimont, Sherburn, Alpha, and returning to Fairmont. They then moved to Iowa where they lived on a farm for many years before moving into Royal.
During their marriage, Alice and John enjoyed attending dances, especially polka dances held at the Fox Lake Ballroom, Interlaken Ballroom, Stateline and many other area venues. Early in their marriage, Alice worked at the canning company in Fairmont, MN. She enjoyed babysitting and providing day care for neighborhood friends and family for many years. Alice also worked in the nutrition department for the Clay Central School District as a cook in addition to working many other various jobs throughout her career.
Alice was creative and artistic and crocheted many beautiful items to share with family and friends. She was passionate about reading and once she started a good book, she could never put it down. To keep her mind sharp, Alice enjoyed working on word searches. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and cherished the opportunity to spend time with all of them.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Kevin (DeAnn) Russenberger, Kent (Lori) Russenberger, Kristine (Steve) Blok, Kathleen (Andrew) Nolte, Kurt (Marie) Russenberger, and Kelly Russenberger; daughter-in-law, Elaine Russenberger; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; siblings, Lois (Elmer) Wendt and Glenda (John) Milner; sister-in-law, Marlyce Schwartz; as well as many other extended family and friends.
